Description
Situated in Larbert, Tryst Brewery has been producing quality ales since 2003. John McGarva, owner and head brewer, is always focusing on adding new twists to traditional recipes to create unique takes on classic ales. All of our brews are made with Scottish malt from Mungoswells in East Lothian with additions from Bairds Malt to add depth of colour and flavour. To keep our beers evolving we use hops from all over the globe allowing for a broad range of tastes and aromas.

We are committed to doing our part for the environment at the brewery. Our used malt goes to some local farms for use in agriculture. We also use our spent hops for composting, which helps enrich our small garden, where we attempt to grow some classic British hop varieties such as Fuggle and Target.

Closed because of retirement.

Cask @ Cock Tavern, Hackney, London. Clear blonde with a thinnish head. It’s fairly clean tasting and surprisingly dense hoppy for its easy drinking texture.

Cask pint at the Roseburn Bar. Wasn't expecting any new rates, but there's a new Fyne here too! Pours clear golden with a creamy, tight head. Aromas of light lemon and grassy hops. Taste is a little thin, watery, light malt and faint bitterness.

2nd September 2017
Coggleshall Beer Festival. Cask. Hazy orange - gold beer, small white head. Light dry palate, modest fine carbonation. Thin dry malts. Good Motueka floralness but with an unfortunate touch of soap. Mild tangerine but tangy and bitter with it. Touch of lemon. Bitterness builds in to a soapy bitter finish. A bit messy but not a complete wreck.

On cask at Au Bar. Appearance - golden with some head. Nose - mainly caramel and orange. Light biscuit. Taste - more caramel biscuit. Only a little orange this time. Palate - light bodied and creamy. A touch too sweet for the style methinks! Overall - hops a bit sparse.
