Description
Brixton Brewery is one of London’s established craft breweries, making beer in the heart of one of London’s most colourful and famous neighbourhoods. We were founded in 2013 by two local couples, Jez and Libby and Mike and Xochitl, but our shared passion for beer started years before that, when we met in the old Hive Bar (now Craft Beer Co. Brixton), and bonded over newborn babies, and a dream of opening a brewery. We reckoned that every great neighbourhood deserves a great brewery, and we wanted to bring one to Brixton.

In 2017 Brixton Brewery announced the biggest news in its short history. That it had partnered with Heineken UK in a deal that would enable the business to open a second site in Brixton, boost capacity nearly tenfold from its 3,000hl site to up to 30,000hl, and significantly grow its team as a result.

As per 2021, Brixton is 100% owned by Heineken.

Brixton now only carry out small-scale brewing. Production brewing moved to Beavertown in September 2024.

330ml can, beer gift from BeerViking, shared with Finn on a train bound for Birmingham. Good looking with off-white head, leaving rich lacing on the glass, almost black body. Promising plain coffee nose. Dark malt-forward taste profile, coffee grounds joined by liquorice. Smoothly roasted ending, chocolate-coffee. Like it. (Train from Euston London to Birmingham New Street, 13.02.2023).

Short lived beige head left a spotty cover & collar with lots of lacing on a dark brown body. Ashtray, burnt & tobacco aroma. Smells like a 1970's tap room. Medium bodied, foamy with a smoother clean back. Burnt, roasted, malt, biscuit & liquorice tastes with a light citrus finish. Drinkable.

Keg at The Noose & Monkey. It pours ever so slightly hazy golden - yellow with a bubbly white head. The aroma is soft, fresh, quite juicy, tropical fruit vibes, tangy citrus, orangey, grapefruit, orange squash and a touch of pine. The taste is crisp, dry, snappy, quite clean, pleasing hit of bitterness which lingers, pine needles, pithy, zesty, lemon - lime, grapefruit and that's about it. Finish is dry and fruity. Average body and moderate, fizzy carbonation. Actually really not bad at all. Very drinkable.
