strong smell of honey and a taste that follows through with more of that. a taste of hops in here. a really decent lager - if lagers always tasted like this id drink a whole lot more of them, even when they werent cheap. half litre bottle

This fruit poured a clear, medium yellow colour with a big, bright white head. To the nose there are scents of vinegar, ripe fruit, brown sugar and butter??? First sip was light on the carbonation with flavours of hops, black berry jam and perfume. finish was a little bitter with sweet hop flavour lingering.

Sample at the Strange Brew Tasting on 02/18/2012. Pours a dark brown color with a medium tan head that recedes quickly. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of cocoa and roasted malt. Medium body with flavors of smoked malt, fruit and chocolate. The finish is chocolatey with a short charred malt aftertaste. Fairly average overall.

Sample at the Strange Brew Tasting on 02/18/2012. Dark copper-gold pour with a medium thin white head that burns away quickly. Spotty lacing. Aroma of mild hops and sweet malt. Light body with flavors of mildly bitter hops and biscuity malt. The finish is short and lightly hopped. Just average overall.

A big taste. A surprisingly good beer from Grand River. Full body, although it doesn’t pour as thick as some imperial stouts. Strong taste of coffee and alcohol, heavy mouthful. The cost is good too - cheap for an imp stout. Underrated.

Modest head and a copper-gold body with little carbonation. Aroma of wet burlap, very faint. Flavour is a lot of bread and crackers, maltiness, wet finish. Old-style don’t necessarily mean good, and this tastes closer to a low-alc than anything else.

Nice big creamy head and a clear amber body. Soft hops and malt aroma. Flavour is slight nuttiness, sweet malts, with a medium hoppy finish. This is a good one.

(500 mL bottle from LCBO). Served at cellar temperature. Pours jet black with a medium tan head that held for a little while. Aromas of mocha, caramel, licorice and some soya sauce, the latter not my favourite. Initial taste is chocolate with coffee and malty sweetness, mid-palate rather sour with some vanilla, finish dry, bitter and somewhat roasty. Mouthfeel is a little thin for my taste of this style but it is not over-carbonated. A decent example of the style from my home province, but I prefer something either hoppier or richer, with fewer sour/soya components.

This "Winter warmer" poured a deep amber colour with a nice, smooth, light tan coloured head. To the nose there are scents of hopps, citrus, cooked veggies and creamed corn. First swig was smooth and a little bitter with a creamy mouthfeel and medium/low carbonation. Flavours of hopps, malt and spruce? Finish is medium bitter with the hopps lingering forever.

A deep amber colour with a beige head that has great retention and creates patchy lacing. A nice 2mm thickness coats the brew. Aromas of caramel, roasted malts and hop. Nice silky smooth and creamy mouthfeel with a nice dry finish. This is created with all the hop included in this brew. I am quite surprise with the bitterness of this amber ale. Almost like a cross between an IPA and an amber ale. Pine needle taste with toffee and grain malt in the aftertaste. Quite a nice treat which I was not expecting. Goes down easy and pretty refreshingly dry with a nice balance between the bitterness and the sweetness.
