(Bottle, Bishop’s Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm) Golden yellow colour with frothy, white head. Malty nose with notes of cereal, grass, hay, hints of toast and vegetables. Malty, grassy taste with bread, grain, hay and grassy hops in a finish with a medium bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Solid Bohemian pilsener with no surprises.

0.5l bottle at Pivovarsky Klub. Pours dark ruby with a beige head. Nose; dark fruits, caramel malt, brown sugar, smoky. Taste; dates, prunes, cherries, raisins, some soy sauce, leads to a syrupy, overly sweet finish of burnt sugar, molasses and caramel. So sweet and sickly it took a lot of will-power to finish.

Pours dark reddish brown color with dark tan head. Aromas of dark fruits and sugar. Very sweet and sugary raisin and prune flavors. Not very good. Thick and syrupy with very little carbonation. Luckily I split this with a couple other people. I couldn’t even finish a few ounces because it was way too sweet.

Cheers to Finn for providing a 500ml bottle of this one. Deep, dark golden body. Lasting white layer. Clean malty nose added by fruity hops. Fine transition to the taste character that brings oily hops and pale malts. Sharp, but short lived, bittersweet ending. Noticable impact of alcohol on the palate. Soft carbonated. Well worth drinking (Tromsø, 11.12.2010).

Pours a dark mahogany with very little head. Sweet candy aroma. The flavor is sweet, pretty much following the aroma. A bit thin. Not bad but lacks the malty richness of a good Doppelbock. Sweet, but the wrong kind of sweet.
