Handpull cask at the Old Horse, Leicester. Mid- to dark red-brown with a thick creamy off-white head. Woody, floral scent with some forest floor and some wild grass. Taste doesn't quite come together: bittersweet with an intense medicinal sourness mid-sip. This dies down enough to enjoy with malty herbal aftertaste. It's an odd little beer.

Handpull cask at the Criterion, Leicester. Light to mid-brown. Clear. Not a lot of the off-white head - just a film really - but there's lots of lacing. Malty caramel scent with a touch of glue resin. There's some strong chestnut as well. Taste is a bit of a let down: it's sweet but there's an off vegetal flavour. Slight sourness in the finish. It's not great.
