Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet malty combined with notes of soap and lavender. The flavor is sweet with notes of soap, wheat, alcohol, and citrus fruits, leading to a dry bitter and wheaty finish.

Bottle from La Cave a Bulles. Recommended by Simon. Brewed 1/11/08. Pours a dark brown with a transient tan head. Aromas of dark toasted malt with chocolate. Full bodied with creamy/fizzy carbonation. Flavor is chocolate over light coffee and toasted malt. Finish is much the same, but the chocolate turns a bit milky. Finishes, of all things, with a light note of banana. And of course chocolate all through. Quite a complex ale. Goes well with Marcus’ cherries.

Amber color with a good off-white head. Aromas of yeast and spice. Med. body with frothy carbonation. Lots of flavor. Roast caramel, strong herbs, and a note of honey. Finishes neither dry nor sweet. This could be a spice/herb ale. Cute Asterix reference. I like it.

Bottle from Bon Marche in Paris. Pours dark cola with a decent light tan head. Roasted coffee aroma. Medium body with sharp carbonation; thins a bit as the carbonation leaves. Flavor of coffee and near burnt malt. Quite dry. Stout it is, and except for the thin body in the finish, a very excellent one. A standout stout.
