Alaska,
United States 🇺🇸
Associated Venue: Alaskan Brewing Company
Established in 1986
In 1986, 28-year-olds Marcy and Geoff Larson reignited that tradition when they opened the Alaskan Brewing Company, the 67th independent brewery in the country and the first brewery in Juneau since Prohibition. Alaskan beers reflect many of the same characteristics of beers that were brewed here during the gold rush era. From the historically based Alaskan Amber recipe to alder-smoked malts and Sitka spruce tips, Alaskan beers reflect Juneau’s local brewing history and innovation.

Dark brown with a frothy, light beige head. Aroma full of burnt grains with undertones of woodsmoke and dark chocolate. Taste is roasted bitter the whole way through. Full-bodied, mild carbonation, a touch oily, smooth. A very rich, malt-forward porter with the smoke playing a background role. Nice.

Can sneakily consumed at Devil’s Club in Juneau. Whores gold with an extremely hugely large off-white creamy head. Aroma is citrus, tropical with a pine note. Medium body. Flavor is juicy citrus tropical, but there is a pine note. Moderately bitter, but it goes well with the fruit. It’s a very good beer.
