Alaskan Brewing Company
Microbrewery
in Juneau,
Alaska,
United States 🇺🇸
Associated Venue: Alaskan Brewing Company
Established in 1986
In 1986, 28-year-olds Marcy and Geoff Larson reignited that tradition when they opened the Alaskan Brewing Company, the 67th independent brewery in the country and the first brewery in Juneau since Prohibition. Alaskan beers reflect many of the same characteristics of beers that were brewed here during the gold rush era. From the historically based Alaskan Amber recipe to alder-smoked malts and Sitka spruce tips, Alaskan beers reflect Juneau’s local brewing history and innovation.

Mild aromas of malt, honey, floral and spice. Leans slightly sweet with enough bitter and carbonation to balance. Same with the finish. Drinkable but nothing special.

Draft: Poured coppery with a white head. Aroma is nice fruity, hoppy bouquet. Taste is hops not over powering, with citrus fruit.

Draft at The Pound! in Brighton. Clear chestnut amber color with a finger of off-white head that lingers. Lovely caramel malt aromas with a light bitter hop note. Smooth with herbal hop and light pine with toasted caramel that lingers on the finish.

$2-ish single from CBC in Dallas. Low-ball back at the lodge. Clear, pale amber, tall & sticky froth. Herbal pineapple nose, mild grain sweetjess. Bittergreen start, dusty, herbal sweet, sharp pith & saltines on the finish. Frothy, low CO2, some satisfying acid. A touch sweet but very solid.
