Description
Alaska has a rich history of brewing. From the explorers of the 1700s through the Gold Rush, many a thirsty Alaskan has been able to enjoy locally made beers.
In 1986, 28-year-olds Marcy and Geoff Larson reignited that tradition when they opened the Alaskan Brewing Company, the 67th independent brewery in the country and the first brewery in Juneau since Prohibition. Alaskan beers reflect many of the same characteristics of beers that were brewed here during the gold rush era. From the historically based Alaskan Amber recipe to alder-smoked malts and Sitka spruce tips, Alaskan beers reflect Juneau’s local brewing history and innovation.

Bought locally, best by August 11th 2026.
Pours a lightly hazy gold with over a finger of foam, good retention and lacing.
The smell is piney hops, citrus, some malt that is on the sweet side.
Taste is pine, grapefruit citrus to a lesser degree, grain and some caramel malt, the latter of which I could have done without.
Medium bodied lively carbonation, this is good but not something I would seek out.

Two 355ml cans on 21st March 2026, cheers Joe. Clean ans clear golden pour, white crust on top. Piney front to the aroma with a citrus peel twist or two. taste similar with a good twiggy pine bitterness on a bed of citrus flavours.

Two 355ml cans from a mixed case at Joe's place on 21st March 2026. Only one of the four Alaskan beers I didn't really enjoy. Pours a clean amber orange colour, white topping. Just a little bland and boring, should have had this first maybe, rather than last of the four different beers.
