Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of footbalm/douglas88. Pours a pitch black with a dense and lacing brown head. Hard roast malt and vanilla in the nose. Solid body, hard roasted malt, raisins and vanilla. Quite some alcohol in the finish. A very solid impy. 120910

Bottle thanks to footbalm for hand delivering them to me. Pours out a brown/amber topped with a white head. Aroma was oak upfront (normally a huge turnoff to me) tart cherries, barnyard, and some sweetness. Taste more of the barrel sticking around but a good tart and sour to help push it back a little. Some good cherries and sweetness. Not to bad.

Dog Days of Summer Gathering light golden, white head. champagne yeast profile with tropical fruits, mild bitterness, some lingering funk/brett, citrus finish, dry palate with some acidic notes. The barrel use adds a nice mild wood dimension to this beer, definitely giving it a more sour aspect that I am not used to seeing in saisons.

Bottle thanks to dmac at Jimmack’s ’10 invitational. Pours black with tan head. Nose of medicine, bourbon and coffee. Taste of chocolate, dark roasted malts, coffee, vanilla, bourbon and smoked oak.

First off, a huge thanks to Eric for sending me a bottle. Secondly, screw you Eric for not asking for anything in return. Seriously, I have enough trouble sleeping at night and now I must figure out how to repay your awesomeness... The beer itself is delightful and the pour is rather striking. Fuzzy golden blonde in color with a finger of creamy white head. Bright nose is citrus filled, sours, light grassey notes, lemon, and more fruitiness. Crisp taste is an explosion of tartness, tropical fruit, a little wheat presence, and lightly woody. The way the carbonation fits in is just sublime. More sour than saison, but delightful. This rocks & so does Eric!

Appearance: Pours clear copper/amber with a nice off-white with some lacing left in the glass
Aroma: Huge citrus and fruity aroma
Taste: Piney, caramel and bitter pine
A very nice amber ale, nice and hoppy. Clean, crisp and refreshing. This is the first beer in the small batch series. I’m looking forward to the next ones.

Draught at The Beerhive, Salt Lake City, UT. Black, minimal head. Tarrylicorice aroma. Mid dry with clean mouthfeel and medium body. Some tar and ash as well as dark chocolate. Ligyht salty finish with notes of chlorine. A bit edgy.

Hazy copper pour - faint soapy lace - crisp, dry, crackery aroma, with copious earthy, woody hops - resinous - a bit of bready malt to start things off, but just enough to give the hops something to ride in on - becomes fairly dry from mid to finish - hops are woody at first, but settle onto the palate as a bitter citrus note that lasts through the finish - reminds me why IPAs are such a persistently popular style.

Major points to that special woman for bringing home a Utah rating for me. Love truly knows no bounds, I guess. Anyhow, out of the bottle this pours a very transparent orange with little head... kinda sudsy and quite ephemeral. Aromas of oranges and cream with a little peach and honey sweetness. Flavor is pretty sweet stuff with hops as a bit of an afterthought. The whole thing is a bit washed out, but not awful... just needs to be more assertive to make me happy. Malt presence is a honey/dough/light caramel flavor with a bit of an orange and herbal hops presence that show before it fades back into a fairly sweet malt finish. A little bit of a hops sting shows up on the lips in the late aftertaste, but it’s too little, too late.
