Our founders have revitalized numerous buildings in Danville’s River District, and this 1891 warehouse immediately captivated them. After being empty for decades, they knew the building deserved a new life. Just as our building was once at the forefront of the tobacco industry, our goal is to bring it to the same prominence for craft beer.
So, today, you’ll find a 20-barrel, modern facility capable of brewing 10,000 barrels of beer each year. At Ballad, we’re breathing new life into our renovated warehouse by crafting sophisticated beers that will please the most discriminating palettes.
But we aren’t just making beer here — we’re inviting the whole community to share the experience with us. Our casual, family-friendly taproom is a place for locals and visitors to find new beers they love and connect over shared stories.

16oz can. Poured a orange color with a small white head. Aroma was actually pleasant light pickle, not overly spicy but you do get a little bit of spiciness. Nice salinity and pickle spice.

Not sure if I got an old can or what. Murky amber pour, tastes like chewing tobacco and syrup

Can at Total Wine: pours brown with beige head. Aroma is cinnamon, dark fruit, other price. Taste is rather sweet, hefty spicieness. Ok.

16oz can from Arlington Brew Shop pours a translucent, deep brown with some off white head that faded fast. Tobacco and chocolate chip cookie, malt and caramel, roasted root veg. Flavor is mostly sweet tea and brown sugar, gets a little reductive here. Lack of carb doesn't help either. Medium full.

Smoke and burned raisins, which is a bit of an odd sensation. Dark clear brown pour without much head. Lots of cinnamon, bark. Bitter and tangy finish, some boozy sweetness. Tap at Dominion Wine and Beer.

No aroma. Clear amber, thin head. Chemical, bread crust. Light body, moderate carbonation.
