Pours crystal clear gold with a small, sudsy short-lived head.Nose shows loads of rice, some alcohol and a little grainy malt.Similar flavours but a bit more bready malt shows. Finishes with a mild metallic bitterness.Very water body, carbonation is too high.

330 ml can, kindly shared by abemorsten, who brought it from Mauritius. ABV is 3.5%. Very pale golden colour, moderate white head. Moderate lemon aroma. Tastes like a lemon shandy, quite refreshing, but not much beer flavour (just a little malts in the finish).

Can, kindly shared by abemorsten. ABV is 6.5%. Golden colour, moderate head. Very moderate pale lager aroma, but not offensive. Standard pale lager flavour, nothing offensive here, tolerable hops. I guess I could survive on this in Mauritius.

Pale yellow, small off-white head. Some cereal malts and vegetable aroma. Light bodied and somewhat sweet. Finish tries to be dry. Not terrible, but not good either.

Bottle. Syrupy sweet barley malt and vegetable aroma. Golden yellow with minimal head. Sweet-sour malt flavor with a bitter finish and a sour vegetable aftertaste. Not horrible and probably way better in the heat of Mauritius.

Has no aroma to speak of, which gets a 2 in my book, and I’ll save the 1’s for the really off-putting beers. Has a deep gold colour but unfortunately no substantial head. The flavour is all right though, with some sour hops notes amidst grains. but there’s also this weird bitterness on the back end that I find unappealing. Mouthfeel is reasonably crisp though, with no ugly tastes left in your mouth.. Nonetheless I don’t find much to appreciate in this "legendary" beer by any stretch.
