June 2009: Brown 330ml bottle obtained from ’Beers of Europe’. Poured into a stemmed pilsner glass, it looked the part. Clear, bright golden lager colour with a good white head that hung around for a while before turning into a wispy covering and collar. There was some lacing as the beer was consummed. Very little in the way of aroma, some grassy notes but not a lot of anything (like most lagers/pilsners). The taste was different to your normal lagers, this was woody, earthy and interesting. It was dry and refreshing, had a hidden depth of character and suprised me in its complexity. One of the best lagers I’ve had since I started reviewing on this site. Glad I made the effort to try it, highly recommended.

Blond color. The aroma is somehow puckery. Cornish flavor, with light sourness, and some alcohol perception. Bad.

330ml bottle from Wine Rack, Ascot. Strawcoloured with no head and soft carbonation; muddled aroma, some grain and some citrus; the taste is somewhat better and shandy-like with some malty body and sweet lemonade.

330 ml can, as Phoenix Cider Apple, kindly shared by abemorsten. ABV is 5%. Very pale yellow colour, artificially carbonated. Sweetish apple alcopop aroma. Sweet apple alcopop flavour. Could be mistaken for a Scandinavian alcopop.

Shared 330 ml can at local tasting, thanks to abemorsten. Pale golden colour, low head. Moderate sweetish aroma, hints of grass and candy. Thin mouthfeel. The flavour has a hint of citrus, but both the malts and hops are poorly represented.
