Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Pale gold colour crystal clear, thick white head. This is what a blond ale should be like, lively, good body, decent pale malts , but really good hops, sherbert on finish, good grapefruit/tangerine aroma. Good enough to have 2 pints of it.

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm, 30 Oct 2009) Golden amber colour with brief, frothy, white head. Fruity nose with apricots, citrus and grainy malt. Fruity, slightly malty taste with notes of apricots, citrus and grain. Light body, balanced sweetness. Decent and refreshing golden ale without getting overly exciting.

Draught. Hazy brown with some persistent soapy head. Slightly hoppy, maybe funky aroma. Light body and carbonation. Flavour not distinctive, slight bitterness in finish. Ok as a session beer, but not special.

Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Gold with a thin cream head; weak grainy aroma; watery with a wheaty body; and a touch of bitterness to finish. Disappointing and forgetable - not Loddon’s finest.
