Bottle: This world-class brew belongs to the small number of victims of the velvet revolution 1989! Still extremely good, but in the dark age of communism - believe it or not - this Pilsener was better and the best way to forget the daily frustration..... Dark golden colour, thick, creamy head; good balance between the dominant beautiful hop aromas (herbal, floral, grassy) , caused by first class Saaz hops, on one side and a smooth, malty body on the other side. Compare it to a watery german (or dutch or belgian ) Mock-Pils and You’ll know, what a good beer is like....From the tap (In the Urquell-Vatican U zlateho tygra Prague): perfecty served, very moreish, very deceptive; the long, highly aromatic aftertaste will cause You to order a next and a next and a next one....... (08/2005) Re-rated after several tests at U hrocha, U jelinku and U dvou kocek in Prague: Palate 4/5, Overall 20/20 ! Superb stuff ! Ceskemu pivu zdar !

Bottled. Pale golden, rich creamy head. Light grass aroma. Dryish and light bodied, but not thin. There’s a vague hint of butterscotch and the finish has medium bitterness. A clean, more than decent desitka.

Tapped. Golden coloutm nediumsized white foamy head. Bready aroma with hints of fresh fruit and hops. Very smooth and soft palate. Flavour is mainly fruitish with hints of bread and a hoppy finish. The aftertaste is weak, but longlasting and mainly bittry. Very refreshing.

A clear orange beer with a nice off-white head. The aroma is sweet hoppy while the flavor is dry with notes of caramel and a lightly hoppy end. The body is thin.

Bottled
Copper brown, small off-white head, lace. Menthol hoppy nose. Crunchy, hopped pilsener with oily sweetish aftertaste. Very pleasant after drinking over 20 different low quality Latvian and Estonian bulk lagers :)

Bottle. Light malt aroma. Medium yellow with next to no head. Light malt flavor with no hops flavor that I can detect. Decent body. Not great for a czech pilsener but considering this is a low carb beer (Attention Adkins dieters - 3.5 grams per 0.5 L bottle), this is so much better than Michelob Ultra or Rolling Rock Green Light that I wish I had the import rights to this - low carb beer that actually tastes somewhat like a beer.

Can. Sweet malt aroma. Medium yellow color with quick collapsing head. Sweet, floral malt flavor with a mild hops finish. Okay but just a bit too sweet.

Can. Grainy, corn aroma. Dark yellow clear color. Sweet malt flavor with minimal hops flavor and high carbonation. A non-offensve beer but nothing special.

My old review wasn’t that informative, so I decided to update it. I still stand by my rating of the beer. 0.5l green bottle. It’s not a fresh sample, but it sure wasn’t skunky. Poured a deep golden colour, with a big fluffy white head that went completely away rather fast. I didn’t notice much lacing. The nose was faint (the beer was cold, so it figures), but it was malty, honeyish. The taste was nice, with a nice hoppy foreground and a subtle and pleasant malty and lemoney background. Good hoppy aftertaste. Flawless, but far from flashy. Original review:The source of all pilseners is definitely an above average pilsener, with a pleasant and balanced taste. And it’s pretty refreshing too.

Clear, yellow body. Off-white creamy head, virtually not lacing and mostly diminsihing. Hoppy (flowers) and yeasty (dough) aroma. Moderately bitter initial flavour and lightly bitter (averagely long) finish. Lively carbonation.
