Description
LOC Brewery brews quirky, craft beers that are a voyage of discovery for the taste senses. It is our ambition to conquer the world with this. LOC Brewery wants to experiment with flavours, herbs, fruit and even let beers mature in wooden barrels.
LOC Brewery is an initiative of Roy Maas (he left in 2018), Erwin Schellekens, Daniel Tano and Paul Cools. The four know each other because their children were in the same class, so they met in the schoolyard. In December 2014, LOC Brewery started brewing small amounts of beer. Since then, brewing has accelerated to meet the demand from tastings and events. The first beer was launched in June 2015.

Black with lasting head. Aroma has roasted malts, coffee and a touch of aniseed. Nice bitter flavour not only from the roasted malts but also plenty of hop bitterness in the finish.

Pitch black, tan head, big bubbles. Aroma of roasted malts, cacao, caramel and brown sugar. Bit sour CO2 note. Malty flavour, light vanilla, light coconut, caramel. Very fizzy. Finish bitter caramel, sweet note, vanilla, hint of liquorice. Nice, but a bit too fizzy, quite a lot of CO2 for my liking

Bright clear gold beer, big bubbly pale cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry and has a good fine minerally carbonation. Very light malts bring a modest sweetness. Good piney hop and mild skunk. Nicely integrated light lime and a touch of mint! Light fruity floral finish. Not getting a jot of raspberry but it’s a fun tasty IPA.

GBBF Day 4. Keg. Opaque dark black - brown beer, tidy tan head. Palate is airy, semi dry and has modest fine carbonation. Mild minerals. Smooth dark malts. Touch of milky sweetness. Coconut? Pretty light! Modest dark fruits and dark chocolate. A little spice on the light finish. It’s tasty but given it’s description I wanted more from it.

Bottle at home. Black with a bit fizzy brown head. Quite some coffee and roasted malts, licorice, coconut, light grassy, soft mineral notes, molasses, maybe light rum and vanilla but it might be suggestion. Medium sweet and bitter. Bit over medium bodied with fizzy carbonation. Nice beer, but all the adjuncts are a bit too much in the background.
