pours clear dark red/walnut with a small tan head and some lacing. aroma roasted malts, licorice, chocolate, slightly metallic. flavour chocolate, caramel, blueberries, dried pears, citrus. mellow, slightly bitter finish.

0.33l bottle in basel. pours a hazy pale yellow with a small white head and no lacing. fresh floral aroma, some elderflowers. flavour is not as hoppy, mostly malty and yeasty, but light and crisp nevertheless. honey, pepper, grains. oily texture. refreshing.

330ml bottle [another baslebier from bartlebier, thank you very much!]. Hazy, darkest brown colour with small, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Roasty, dark malty aroma, notes of coffee (espresso), a sweetish touch of mocha beans, hints of malt lozenge. Taste is initially roasty dark malty with minimally sweet coffee notes, a touch of mocha, later taking a downturn, a variety of more tart and bitter coffee flavours remains, a touch of grassy hops accrues; slightly watery in the second half; slightly sticky palate.

330ml bottle [one of several gems in a treasure chest sent by bartlebier - thank you very much!]. Darkest brown colour with reddish brown glimmer and late awakening, average, thick, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting and lacing, off-white to beige head. Hard to analyze aroma delivers a dark malt-toffee-purulence-conglomerate, a touch of coffee and hints of fruity hops are separable at best. Taste is slightly roasty dark malty, hints of coffee, a caramel touch, a slimy layer of toffee snuggles, surpressed hoppy notes aren’t able to appear self-contained; malt-hop-alloy oscillates between toffee and honey, possibly affine to fruity hoppy and floral hoppy respectively; bitter, roasty malt-spicy finish with a cautious touch of liquorice. Malt-dominated Black IPA.

Leicht trübes orangegoldenes Bier mit einer mittelgroßen leicht beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch nach getrockneten Früchten, deutlich hopfig, harzig. Geschmack kräftig malzig, sehr hopfig, fruchtig bitter, zum Ende mehr würzig als fruchtig.
