Description

On tap. Pours a far reddish brown with moderate head. Aromas of mineral water, burnt sugars, a bit of Belgian yeast and bready malts. Flavors follow same with lots of additional metallic notes. A typical Leffe.

25cl bottle from my local Sainsbury’s. A pale amber pour with a scant white head; light malty aroma; fresh and lively in the mouth with some lemon and yeast flavours; then a spicy bitterness to finish. Pretty good for a NA beer.

Bottiglia.

Below average Belgian blonde, malty fruity and sweet. Barely acceptable thirst quencher on a hot day, if there isn’t anything better around. But overall far too sweet and dull. Overrated stuff.

Not a fan of the Leffe Blonde, but here goes. First of all, this is not a bad beer. It’s not very good either. Its aroma consists of roasted malts, with a touch of dark bread and sweet caramel. In fact, this is quite a sugary beer, too much for its own good. The Leffe Brune is an acceptable dubbel at best and a slight step up from the blonde. All in all, however, I remain unimpressed with Leffe.

Pours a hazy dark golden colour with a good white head. Aroma of wheat, yeast, some citrus, spices (such as coriander), slightly floral. This is an okay tripel but it’s no Karmeliet.

Pours a mostly clear amber colour with a foamy head. Aroma of malts, caramel, yeast, herbs and dark fruits such as cherry and raisins. Quite heavily carbonated. Refreshing, but watch out for the ABV. I’m not generally a fan of Leffe, but I enjoyed this one.

Pours a deep golden/orange colour with a white head. Aroma of sweet malts, ripe fruits. Flavour is malty sweetness, a bit boozy. Little more than a strong Leffe Blond, not a fan.
