Description

De Abdij van Leffe, opgericht in 1152, was een norbertijnenabdij waar kanunniken in een gemeenschap samenleefden met bijzondere aandacht voor opvang en gastvrijheid. In 1240 besloten de kanunniken een brouwerij te bouwen om een gezonde en versterkende drank te bereiden. Door de Franse Revolutie werd abdij gesloten. Pas in 1929 werd de abdij heropgericht. In 1952 besloten abt Nys en Albert Lootvoet de brouwtraditie en de goedbewaarde receptuur van Leffe te hervatten. In 1954 al werd Brouwerij Artois hoofdaandeelhouder van Brouwerij Lootvoet. De productie werd in 1977 overgeheveld naar Brouwerij Grade in Mont-Saint-Guibert, tot de sluiting in 1996. Tegenwoordig wordt Leffe gebrouwen bij de brouwerij van Stella Artois in Leuven.

De abdij van Leffe is middels de vennootschap Brasserie de l'Abbaye de Leffe slechts houder van het intellectueel eigendom op de naam Leffe.

Bottle. Red caramel color clear big off-white head. Flavor reminiscent of the regular rouge with some spices and candy sugar slightly burnt and bitter.

Bottle at home. Aroma of floral, malt, fruity notes, some citrus, sugary notes, some hops. Flavour is moderate sweet with a moderate bitter finish. Body is medium. Unsurprisingly, this is not much of an IPA and it has an unpleasant chemical artificial quality to it. Nope.

Bottle at home. Aroma of malt, grain, sugar, yeast, sweet fruits, apples, alcohol. Flavour is sticky and a bit cloying medium sweetness with a moderate bitter finish. Body is medium. Artificial and overly sweet industrial stuff.

Bottiglia. Arco olfattivo dominato dall'orzo tostato. L'olfatto viene stimolato in maniera normale e l'esistenza olfattiva è sufficiente. Il cappello di schiuma cremosa ha una buona tenuta. La grandezza delle bollicine è medio-fine. Il liquido è di consistenza limpida. Bollicine medio-fini costituiscono anche la forma del perlage, con carbonazione vivace e persistente. Il colore è ambrato. Il corpo è pieno. L'amaro è medio. La forza gustativa è elevata e si prolunga in modo sufficiente. Il gusto è piacevole. Le sensazioni boccali finali risultano di pronta beva. Il retrogusto è di decente intensità. Al palato prevalgono impressioni di caramello, miele, frutta secca, pane cotto di recente, erbaceo e agrumi.

Bottiglia. Il gusto al naso è indirizzato verso l'orzo tostato. La finezza olfattiva è normale e il modo in cui permane è sufficiente. Il manto birroso superiore resiste poco. La grandezza delle bollicine è a grana fine. Il colore è ambrato rossiccio carico tendente marrone. Il corpo è pieno. L'amaro è contenuto. La forza gustativa è elevata. La continuità gustativa è buona. Il gusto è piacevole. Le sensazioni boccali finali risultano di birra beverina. Il retrogusto è intenso. Sul palato si depositano sentori di caramello, miele, nocciola, frutta secca, pane tostato, agrumi, spezie, arancia e frutta disidratata.

Bottle at home. Aroma is floral, malt, herbs and spices, perfume, air freshener, candy, hint of hops and a touch of fruits. Flavour is above moderate sweet with some lingering bitterness in the finish. Body is medium. Not good but not bad either, at least it’s better than the other Royale varieties I’ve tasted.

Bottle from Speciaalbierpakket. Aroma is sweetish brown malt with caramel, spicy notes, yeast, coriander, brown sugar. Flavour is fairly sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. On the sweet side, but still a very decent Belgian dark ale, just one of many.

Bottle from a local bottle shop. Aroma is malty with yeast, sugar, some cardboard. Flavour is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. Cheap and bland.

Средний на вкус бельгийский эль с легкой горчинкой. Вкус не достаточно богатый для Бельгии как по мне. Хотя цитрусы чувствуются весьма ярко.

Слишком сладкий и приторный бельгийский Эль.В послевкусии ощущается кофе,шоколад, карамель. Но сладкая приторность перебивает все. Очень на любителя
