Hazy orange. Thick yellowish head, dissipating. Dry-sweet nose, candi-sugar. Orange-zest smell. Hyper classic. Dry-bitter, spicy, orange zest in taste again. Coriander, galanga-root, paradise seed. Hyper-classic, again, but I'm not using it sarcastic. Bone dry, medium bodied, and yet, retronasal and aftertaste are essentialy fruit (citrus) and estery. Even a bit yeasty. What do I have to say? A (very) well made triple, hyper-classic (3rd time seals it), nice. Then why I cannot get excited about it?

Dark brown color, with some red reflex; medium sized creamy head. Average malt and caramel aroma, as well for the flavor; medium low bitterness. Simple but not bad.

Dark amber, simple malt aroma. Medium strength body, well structured, light malt, sweet caramel; ending alcohol touch. Quite boring Dubbel.

Draught Thick foamy chocalate tinged head. This had some deep ripe fruit tones in it, but I thought they were lost quickly. Tastes much better as it warms up and the sweetness does not take over completely. Also had some cookie/honey taste in it, not a very good description, but there was a good body to it. Needs much more complexity though. Problems with carbonation even on draught.

Pale gold with amber shine. Medium white head, stable, lacey. Nose of hops, not very subtle however. Impression of candi-sugar. Taste is hopbitter - definitely bittering hops or extract. Some background sweetness - not malty. Warming up, appearance of burnt caramel. Rather dry. Harsh bitter aftertaste, a bit metallic. This is not a BAD beer. It is an unrefined beer. And terribly popular, spiting more complex, less accessible, and much more rewarding brews - by smaller firms. Rerating on 18/9/2003, this time from 75cl bottle. Much less bitter, not hoppy, more medicinal in flavour. It's not better, rather the opposite. Aftertaste is more fruity, a bit better all the same. Dryness remains.

Pours translucent golden, can see shapes through the beer. Aroma is fishy, spiced, sweet. The taste is corny, malty, cheap sweetness. Medium body. This was one of my gateways beers but now its barely even worth the time.

Hazy golden color, big head. Typical, sweet and corky aroma. Pretty sweet, malty; interesting but not enough original nor balanced by the hops. The palate is not really bitter, not hop-aromatic and still quite sweet, almost fruity, and some wood.

Pale colour with a very large-bubbled head. Good smell, not too much going on, but definately not bad. Bland taste, once again, no complexities...but an all-around decent beer. Noticabley heavy bodied for a beer this light, but good to try at least once. Tasted on Tap at MacGregor's in Rochester, New York.

(Sample 2 yrs. old) Dark brown colour. yellow-brownish head, thick but disappearing. Chalk in the nose. some nutty aroma, little or no madeirisation, but there is alcohol apparent. Bitter, burnt taste. There is a taste reminding of walnuts - but the nuts haven't been peeled. Extract of walnut-bolsters is used in home-wine making for emulating portwine... This bitterness is too harsh. There is a malty underbuilding, but it is not enough to achieve balance. Medium to full bodied, a bit oily. I have the impression there is more alcohol apparent in the younger beer. The horrible walnutpeel bitterness keeps going, but at least there are some more refined flavours, esterish, in the aftertaste.

[Draft] A brown beer with a good head. It has a very light fruity aroma. And a very nice sweet flavor with notes of fruit, nuts and chocolate and a good palate.
