BBD 2006. Moderate amount of white head, with a bronze-copper colored body, very clear, highly filtered. Aroma of strong cotton candy. Wow, so I guess this is what people talk about when they say a beer has a cotton candy nose. It smells like German hefe weisse yeast, to be honest, with some bubble gum (could be belgian or german) but also light banana. Flavor of alcohol, bubble gum, and phenolic fruitiness (light colored fruits, nectarines, lemons, peaches, apricots). Initially, I like it alot, with a big fruit and candy sugar kick, but it never really develops in to much, just staying sweet with some sourish yeast in the background and a peculiar alcohol note lingering. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation.

Bottled. Golden coloured, decent white head. Aroma consists of sweetish-citric barley. The flavour is a sweetish-bitter combination of wheat, barley, malt and citrus. Good carbonation level.

Bottled. Dark brown, almost opaque. Small white head, which disappears quickly. Fruity and yeasty smell. Sweet fruity taste, a bit "bitter" aftertaste, but the bitterness is good as it takes out the sweetness a bit.

Bottle. Slightly fruity aroma. Good creamy, stable head. Yeasty and a little sweet flavour with a little bitterness. Aftertaste is also yeasty.

Gorgeous brown,huge lasting rocky tan head, tiny bead.Light banana nose. Too much yeast and too little malt for a dubbel. Bitter finish. A rather poor representation of the style

Rerate: Poured a big thick tan(ish) head, deep brown colour, lazy carbonation. The nose was spicy and yeasty. The taste was basically malt, alcohol, some fruit. It was sweet and not as impressive then I once thought it was. Weak burnt malt and, when it gets warmer, a herbal hop presence in the aftertaste finish this just slightly above-average brew.Old review:This was certainly interesting. Had an enormous and firm looking white head (maybe a bit brownish), which subsided at an acceptable rate. The body was dark brown, and the aroma was of coriander, and quite intensive, too. But overall the beer dissapointed me a bit. It tasted almost the same I remember the Leffe Blond tasting - sweet and spicy. It’s very good however, but left me wondering if this is really just a colored Blond. Might do a side by side test. 7/4/7/4/15

A hazy dark amber beer with a huge beige head. The aroma is very sweet with notes of yeast and oranges. The flavor is extremely sweet - too sweet for my liking, and also with a bite of alcohol on the tongue, that warms the palate and throat. But the flavor also contains notes of yeast, oranges, and prunes - but not enough to hide the alcohol. The end is dry, smooth, and a little sticky.

Exploded out of the bottle. Large white head that lasts a long time. Highly carbonated. Gold with lots of bubbles. Very nice aroma of sweet fruit and wheat. On the light side, taste of sweet malt with a little fruit. Aftertate is also malt. Aroma reminded me of tripel Karmeliet. Taste was less complicated that I like and expect. Still a good one; I wish I tried it earlier.

Had this one after dinner one night at the Pepperwood Bistro in Burlington Ontario. It poured a dark brown with a fine spore like head. Typically Belgian with strong spice flavours and yeast. Very good aroma but almost too spicey for me.

New review:Again, not one of my best early ratings, so I felt like a rerate is in order. 0.33l bottle. Poured a darker golden colour with a medium sized fluffly white head that went away at a medium pace. Lively carbonation. A pleasant aroma, nicely fruity (some random agrume) and spicy. A sweet taste, underlying grainy breadiness. The nice silky fruitiness (apple maybe, something else...) mixed with some spices present in the nose can also be found here. Spice ends up in dust from time to time, not in the best way possible and some metal also pops up. Sweetish finish, weak hop in the aftertaste. Obviously not the best Belgian ale around, but I’ve had much worse micros in the same style. Good for the price and I’m not knocking the rate down as much as I thought I might. Ends up somewhere between 3.4 and 3.5. Heh... they seem to have started claiming that it’s brewed by a "Br. Abbaye de Leffe" in Dinant and no, there is no brewery there. Ah, well..Old review:This is a fine ale. Has a nice amber colour, and a fine head. I think my mother maybe got it right when she first tried it and exclaimed. "This is great! Oh, wait, too sweet." . It was quite sweet, but not too much, and the spicey taste was enjoyable. I’m pretty sure that there are better Belgian ales around though. (7/4/7/4/15)
