Bottle from Irma. Pours amber with a firm white head. Aroma of caramel malt and a little floral and citrus hops. Sweet taste of orange marmelade and some herbs. Missing the Belgian yeast I expected from the name.

pitch dark, smooth light brown head. fruit peel bitterness, chocolate and fruit jam in the aroma.roasted malts and coffee. i’d like to say complex but the first word that comes to mind is messy.Flavor is quite good, roasted malts, a dark fruity balance to keep it interesting, and a nice roast and coffee flavor to round it all off. end bitterness is low, but the roast remains. clearly the best flavor i’ve tasted from the schiøtz brand, but then, lately albani has started to make tasty and flavorful brews, hats off to that.

Clear very dark color with a fine frothy off white head. Ok intensity in the aroma. Looks nice. Mellow decent sweetness and a bit oily texture. Medium (+) body and an ok carbonation level. Easy to drink. Toffee, bready and a bit fruity flavor. Far better than feared. Quite nice actually.

Bottle 50 cl. Well, for once it doesn’t live up to its name since it’s not deep black, it has a deep burgundy tweak - pretty but not deep black - and a neat black head. I’m pretty sure I’m getting diacetyl in the nose, but the brewer will probably argue that it’s a complex interplay between the spices. Sure smells like diacetyl. Strangely light in body, notes of dry, English licorice - no traces of the added berries and spices. Drinkable with a strange, tart edge. 200617
