Description
Once known as Samuel Allsopp & Sons, Jamie Allsopp, the great-great-great-great-great grandson of Samuel, believes that the delicious beers of Allsopp’s are too good to be consigned to the history books.
All beers are brewed at Kirkstall Brewery, Leeds.
He consolidated the scattered trademarks and found possibly the only remaining ledger containing the authentic recipes.
The revived company commenced test brewing in 2020, staying as close as possible to the original recipes.
Keeping up the Allsopp’s tradition of launching into the teeth of a storm.

Spotty beige head on an unclear golden coloured body. Fruity, peach & candy aroma. Medium bodied, lively & clean on the back. Malt, floral, zesty orange, caramel & nectarine tastes. Very moorish.

Cask at Bradford CAMRA Beer Festival 2024. Pours hazed copper orange with pale tan foam. Aroma: Caramel, toffee, dried fruits. Taste: moderate+ sweet with lighter bitterness, dry on the palate. Medium+ body. It's quite different from from most modern barleywines. Less fruity, more dry. Nice to try this.

From cask at Hole in the Wall, Waterloo, 11.02.24. Orange amber. Fairly persistent white head. Fine aroma and taste of sweet pale malt, slightly darker malt, Sevilla marmalade, pine and some caramel. Good. Soft mouthfeel.
