Moonwake: “the moon’s reflection on a body of water” speaks to the brewery’s Leith Shore location, the importance of water as an ingredient, and our beer’s reflection of our collective experience.

Our beer is precision brewed with mindful intention on modern technology using quality ingredients.

Our founders started their beer careers on opposite sides of the world, Vinny in New Zealand and Fin in the UK. They bring over a decade of collective experience in brewing to Moonwake, for both of them brewing is their creative outlet.

Can from LCB. Cloudy gold with small foamy top. Aroma of grains, lemon, salt. Taste has a nice balance of lemon and salt with grains and a crisp light floral note. Light to medium bodied, crisp finish helped by a fine moderate carbonation. Tasty.

440ml can from Beer52. Clear gold, small white head. Aroma of sweet malt, lemon, straw, cereal, spice. Taste has a light bread, cereal, lemon, grass, touch of spice. Light+ bodied, crisp, modest bitterness. Sort of a cross between a Helles and Pils. I like it.

440ml can via Beer52: BB 30th September 2025, drank at home on 12th December 2024. Pale golden body, bright and clean, white crown. Easy going Helles, crisp and refreshing, slightly more hoppy than malty, nice balance between them.

[44cl can from Beer52.] A bright straw coloured pour with a loose white head; musty grain aroma; sweet cereal grain taste with a floral bitterness; and a sour grainy finish. This doesn’t remind me of a Helles.

Can from The Beerhive. Hazy amber body with a thin white head. Steady carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of caramel and pine. Flavour of toffee and biscuit with a citrusy hop finish. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. A solid effort at one of my favourite beer styles.
