Description
Owner and brewer Josh Clarke is producing cask ale exclusively for The Chesterfield Arms and bottled brews to sell at delicatessens, farm shops, markets and online.

Like the 19th century pub in which the micro-brewery is based, Josh was determined to preserve the town’s history in the branding of the new business. He chose Resting Devil, a name inspired by the fable of how the town’s landmark church got its crooked spire.

At Resting Devil, quality and consistency will be the priority. With 12 years’ experience in the game, the Brewer will bring some devilishly drinkable beer to suit every palate.

750ml bockle. Xmas gift off the missus, picked up at source. Cos she’s good like that. Clear chestnut brown. Paler than you might expect. Solid swede though. Fully lasting. Bit of chestnut honey going on. Chocolate malt. Fig and date. Robust dark malt bitterness with a touch of citrus forward hoppage. Smooth and clean for the ABV. Big dark chocolate orange bitterness to finish.

Cask. Chesterfield Arms. On the missus’ birthday. Clear dark brown. Slightly bubbly (definitely down to the server) lasting beige foam. Could have looked a 5 tbh. Anyway. Dry roast malt. Earthy slightly fruity coffee bean. Hint of dark chocolate. Taste is dry earthy and fruity bitter. Flicker of dark chocolate sweetness. Super easy drinking. I think I did a pint in about 5 minutes. Could have done several similarly quick. Great stout in prime nick.

Cask. Chesterfield Arms on the missus’ birthday. Clear gold with a tight white head. Malty sweet up front. Lots of floral herbal hoppage. Taste has an initial sweetness turning herbal floral bitterness. Very easy drinking and fresh, as you’d expect on site. Good, but I’d imagine possibly more suited to keg?

Bomber. Remember them? Chesterfield Arms. A Xmas gift of the missus. Hazed gold. Nicely soppy lasting white foam. Very floral with sweet lemon peel. Maybe some Sabro in here. Taste is clean sharp and light tangy. Minimal sweetness. Bright and crisp overall. Twangy bitterness to finish. Great nick. Good gear.
