Brewing high-quality beer, without excessive alcohol content, is what it’s all about. The name Sonnen Hill comes from Sonne, which translates to sun and our family name Hill.

Sonnen Hill was founded in 2017 and we started brewing beer in 2018. For our first two years we were a very small operation and only distributed products to bars and restaurants across Ontario. In 2020, we opened our bottle shop in the height of the pandemic and now sometimes send beer to other provinces across Canada and countries in Europe and Asia. We are family-owned and -operated and are a small team of passionate individuals who work very hard to produce the quality products that we do.

Can. LLBH. 4.8%. Blurb doesn’t mention brett. It is a bit funky though. Dunno. Straw colour. Soft haze. Nice white foam. Nose has super clean pale malt. Lemon. Hint of the aforementioned brett. Taste is clean and dry with a lemon rind bitterness. Hint of sweetness on the lips. Refreshing and bright with lively foamy carbonation. Clean finish with some tart funky notes. Smashed it. Great logger.

Plain green can now this. Little Leeds Beer House freebie. Cheers! Moderate haze on a yellow gold. Very decent white foam. Nose has mineral. Dry malt. Lime leaf. Juicy citrus. Taste is clean dry and assertively bitter. Light and refreshing. Lingering bitterness to finish. Good. Perfect pre picking up the parents for Christmas dinner beer.

Keg at Cloudwater Family & Friends 2020, Manchester Central, day two session one 21/02/20. Lightly hazed golden yellow with a decent off white head. Nose is stoned fruits, grass, funk, lemon whisper, straw Taste comprises grains, lemon tinged straw, herb, yeast esters, light white peppery spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Nice clean drinking saison.

Keg at Cloudwater Family & Friends 2020, Manchester Central, day two session one 21/02/20. Clear golden with a good sized off white cap. Nose is pale malts, grassy, biscuit, light citric presence. Taste comprises pale malts, light breads, grains, herb, grass, crackers, twist of lemon. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent.

A pale blonde lager with a thick frothy lacing white head. In aroma, nice biscuit malt with German hops, light mineral notes. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with grassy German hops, light mineral notes, light chalky notes, pleasant. On tap at Sonnen Hill.

On tap at Bar Lupulus, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma reveals a nice wild yeast character, with plenty of brett funk and some rustic notes. Flavour is very similar, with plenty of wild bacteria, moderate funk, and rustic notes. Fairly complex for a low ABV saison. There's almost a plasticy character underneath that isn't desirable. The bugs have worked nicely here though. Good.
