Description
Brewing high-quality beer, without excessive alcohol content, is what it’s all about. The name Sonnen Hill comes from Sonne, which translates to sun and our family name Hill.

Sonnen Hill was founded in 2017 and we started brewing beer in 2018. For our first two years we were a very small operation and only distributed products to bars and restaurants across Ontario. In 2020, we opened our bottle shop in the height of the pandemic and now sometimes send beer to other provinces across Canada and countries in Europe and Asia. We are family-owned and -operated and are a small team of passionate individuals who work very hard to produce the quality products that we do.

Can from HoTM. It pours clear pale yellow with a medium fluffy white head. The aroma is fresh, grassy, spicy, slightly herbal, biscuity malt, custard creams, cracker and a touch of lemon curd. The taste is crispy, dry, snappy, punchy bitterness which lingers, green, grassy, herbal, spicy, touch nutty, cracker, biscuity and straw with a drying finish. Medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Lovely stuff. Crisp, bitter and quaffable. Green and grassy. Moreish.

Poured from 355mL can (thanks Sammy). Clear-ish blonde gold with small white head. Cereal malt, mild hopping, above average, but underwhelming.

355mL can, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma reveals grassy and herbal notes upfront, with some crackery malt and straw. Flavour is grainy and almost corn-like, with some soft herbal grassiness and a grainy biscuity malt. Very low on the hops, finishing grainy and corn-like. This is pretty underwhelming.
