Draft at Goldfinger. Slow pour with a fluffy head of brown foam. Toasty and grainy black malt nose, slight coffee and prune, very nice. Black lager taste really pops. Malty character gives it a little sweetness. Slight bit of smoke. Hearty, as in, filling, maybe a little gassy. But still done. A lot of malt and lager character on display. Just not as dry as a pale pils.

Draft at Goldfinger. Light brown beer color under a creamy tan head. Definitely earthy nose, with dark malt and just a nudge of yeast. But the taste has no yeast bite to it. Nothing at all out of place. I'm not putting it down to say it's a lot like the megabrew dunkels that were sold as Dark Beer. It's not big on hops, but the malt doesn't run off the rails either. The total finish is just a little dry and… well, I'm starting to pick up the hop note as I write this. Mild alcohol, indeed a beer that drinks like a meal, as Gott intended.

Draft at Goldfinger. Creamy looking head over a brownish beer. Smell of bread yeast and a hint of raisins. Big malty flavor, plus the note of brown bread. Hops just there to keep it from getting sweet, in the German way. Just slightly fruitier, perhaps. Checked against the base Ur-Märzen: the original is indeed more dry, its hops a bit more prominent, and with a lighter finish. The Thiol comes a bit closer to an ale, and is heartier.

Draft mug at Goldfinger. Oktoberfest amber color in its dimpled mug. Creamy head leaves a lot of lace on the sides. Smell has some more of the softened water note of a Pilsner. Taste brings Noble hops up close from the start. Maybe even a slight snap of ginger. Malt is toasty, even crunchy, but with a dry quality that doesn't come up with amber beers.

Served in narrow stenge glass. Pils is golden and a little cloudy with a frothy head that is leaving some nice legs around it. Nice hoppy beer smell, again, spicy Noble hops, a bit peppery and a trace of Sodium in the water. Taste has soda cracker malt kilning, spicy hop and a very dry finish. Malts very delicate, letting the hops take over. Well worth sipping and savoring. Rings of lace around the glass as I drink it down.

Surprisingly clearer than the Polish Pils I had next to this. Same puffy head leaving rings behind as it dwindles. Smell of a baked ham and smoked Gouda cheese. Mouthfeel is actually lighter than the Pils. Main taste is mostly that smoked Gouda rind. And not to say there's actual smoke in the taste, just an impression of smoked food flavors, if that makes any sense. Smoked beers are a take it or leave it for some, but I'm in the mood to take this one. toasty malts finally say hello, and some hop spice to keep this civilized.

Classic lager, just like it should taste. My first from them but between them and nearby Dovetail, these classic styles are in truly pro hands. Pic: 10-day-old robin.

Canned April 13th 2021.
Pours a pale gold with a large head of foam.
I note bready and toasted malt with a bit of spicy hops in the smell.
Taste matches the smell. So crisp and clean and nicely balanced. Easy drinking. Hoppiness is very Noble like.
Medium body with lively carbonation.
So tasty and satisfying. A hit.

Draft at Goldfinger. Clear golden light lager color under a head that dwindles quickly. The smell is less light than other pale lagers, a sweet malty beer smell with notes of corn. Taste is nice and malty. There is some corn sweetness balanced by a light hop load and bubbly effervescence. Obviously light on flavor as fits the style, but no faults or distractions.

Draft at Goldfinger. Gold to amber color, thick white lager head. Rich and malty nose. Full malt taste, a little sweet, made more filling by it's effervescence. How are there as a little bit of dryness and Noble hop pepper. Hop bitterness liners more than the sweetness, and that's just fine. Nice leaving as the best in the glass dragons out. As usual, a sterling Goldfinger beer, and an avatar of its style.
