Bottle from Linda Shop, Burton on Trent (not listed in RateBeer). Drank at Ebenezers, Crewe (shared with non tickers) – thanks Dave. Pours a cloudy reddish brown with minimal off-white head. The aroma is sweet, with plenty of honey and some stale bread crusts. In the mouth it is sweet and very syrupy, though there is a little bitterness too. Flavour of kvass (cola), honey, rye and apples. It’s rather strange – but I like it.

330ml bottle as Tanheiser Porter. My 50th Latvian beer, huzzah! Pours opaque dark brown with a tall beige head. Aroma is prunes, dark malt, syrupy sweetness. Taste is medium sweet, roasted malt, syrup, brown sugar. Light to medium bitter finish. Too sweet, like all the beers by these guys.

330ml bottle as Tanheiser Ginger Dream. Pours clear gold with almost no head. Aroma is ginger, herbal, sweet. Taste is ultra sweet, ginger and honey. Stupidly sweet and artificial. Consigned to the drain.

500ml bottle as Tanheiser Papas at 4.2% ABV. Discribed on the label as Klassisches Helles. Appearance: Clear deep gold with a one finger tall off-white frothy head of medium retention. Aroma: Beans, sulphur, butterscotchm grass, grain. Taste: Light to medium sweet. beans, butterscotch, grass, less sulphur. Low bitterness. Mouth feel: Medium body, soft to average carbonation. Summary: Very far from being a Helles. Pretty ugly to be honest.

330ml bottle as Tanheiser Cranberry-Apple. Pours foggy dark red with a small whitye head. Aroma is cranberry, honey, apples. Taste is heavy sweet, berries and honey. Light bitter finish. It's like a fruited mead. Very sweet but somehow drinkable.

A Tanheiser Riga at 4.8% ABV. Appearance: Clear deep gold with a tall off-white frothy head of decent retention. Aroma: Grain, bean hop, straw. Taste: Light sweet, malty and hoppy. Grain, bean hop that is not very pleasant. Mouth feel: Light to medium body, average carbonation. Summary: The hop profile is going me against the grain.
