Description
Ārpus Brewing Co. is an independent microbrewery, founded in 2017 by craft beer geeks from Latvia. We brew what we love - juicy hop forward ales, fruity sour beers and bold imperial stouts - and we’re proud that Ārpus Brewing Co. is voted as #1 brewery in the Baltic States on Untappd.

We chose Latvian word Ārpus for the name of our brewery, as its meaning reflects the types of beers we brew - outside the box, beyond the mass made lagers, beers with overwhelming flavours and aromas for people brave enough to step out of their comfort zone.

The brewery is located just outside Riga (Latvia), equipped with a 10hL brewhouse and 20hL fermentation vessels. Our beer is packaged in 440mL cans and KeyKegs, then stored in a cold room to keep it fresh longer.

Can to snifter.
Appearance: dark brown close to black color with a thin cap of a little white foamy head which quickly dissipated and barely left any lace
Aroma: sweet coffee with roasty tones, woodiness, vanilla and dark malts, some chocolate - milk & dark
Flavor: starts initially sweet then seems to become sweet and roasty with more sips; mild roasty to sweet aftertaste of the dark and milk chocolatey character
Texture: medium bodied with great sipping qualities about it, fairly smooth along tongue; brisk finish of the chocolate and roastiness
Overall: very nicely done coffee imperial stout well worthy of coming back to.

Хорошая пшеничка от крафтовиков всегда редкость. Есть и бананчики и специи, наверное не хватило нажористости.

0.44 l can from 'Rebelbeercans', best before September 2026. Minimally hazy, golden yellow with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, rather fruity-floral and a bit grassy aroma of gooseberry, lychee, some pineapple and a touch of fresh grass. Quite sweet, moderately bitter, rather fruity-floral and a bit grassy taste of grains, lychee, gooseberry, pineapple, some lemon and hints of fresh grass, followed by a short, moderately bitter, a bit dry finish. Almost medium-bodied, very smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft to average carbonation. Pleasant brew, a bit too sweet for the style maybe.

Can to tulip.
Appearance: dark violet/purple-ish in the glass with a finger's worth of white foamy head which dissipated mildly to leave some concave lace
Aroma: pineapples - yes, cherries - yes, strawberries - yes along with the normal creamy/lactose backing that I expected
Flavor: combines all the previously mentioned aromas together fairly sweet, subtle tart aspect enters in with the strawberries and cherries; super mild aftertaste of cherries and strawberries
Texture: about medium bodied, between sessionable and being a sipper; creamy and smooth along the tongue; finishes long with creamy tones running through the pineapples, cherries and strawberries
Overall: a very nicely done pastry sour ale well worth my time. I'd definitely come back to.

Can to snifter.
Appearance: looks like carrot juice (that orangey opaque color) with a quickly dissipating head and barely any lace
Aroma: mangoes - yes, apricots - yes, almonds - uhmmm, there but pretty fainter; definitely some vanilla/creamy/lactose character in there
Flavor: leans towards the sweet side and incorporates in a touch of tart and sour features but even that is pretty far down in there; mild aftertaste of the mangoes and apricots
Texture: about medium bodied - perhaps a touch under; between sessionable and being a sipper; fairly smooth and creamy along my tongue; finishes creamy with the mangoes and apricots
Overall: pretty good pasty sour ale even if the sour/tart tones seemed further restrained than other pastry sour ales I've had. I'd still have again.

Can to snifter.
Appearance: dark brown to black color with a two finger khaki foamy head which slid off nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: peanut butter & vanilla up front then some coffee roastiness and sweetness blessing the middle while some dark roasted chocolatey malts make a good play for added enjoyment
Flavor: mildly sweet blending the prior mentioned aromas with subtle nutty saltiness and roasted coffee tones mesh in; quick aftertaste of the peanut butter, chocolate and vanilla
Texture: medium bodied with a good sipping quality about it; fairly smooth along tongue and somewhat smooth but also some roasty grip; finishes with roastiness, vanilla and peanut butter.
Overall: I'd definitely have again. Great stuff!

Can shared by CLW--thanks, Chris! Opaque black with nice viscosity, no head no lacing. Aroma is strong bourbon, wood/mint, vinegar, earthy/peaty malt, tart cherry. Taste is strong, sweet/sour cherry, chocolate and malt, hint of mint. Smooth texture, full bodied, finish as taste. A weird beer to rate as there is a boatload of complexity here (intentional). The problem is that it results in a disjointed beer rather than a harmonious one. If the point of this is to challenge convention (like a rock band), then bravo. If not, a failure. I'd like to think the former.
