Bottle. Brown with a pale beige head that fades to a coat then lasts OK. Aroma of dough, carob, intriguing spices - mace, anise and what is presumably lady’s mantle (according to the bottle). Less full-bodied than the aroma suggests, sweet, a bit nutty, carob, dries out towards an end that has little bitterness. Aniseed becomes quite prominent after a while. Interesting beer, would go a treat with terrine.

75cl Bottle, Mélusine Blonde Artisanale. Muddy dark golden colour, white head that dies fast. Aroma is very sweet, yeasty, fruity, apricot and peach, fruity esters, caramel. Flavour is also quite sweet, light malty, ripe sweet fruits, very yeasty, light nutty bitter finish. Light-bodied. A bit amateuristic.

Pours dark brown with a fading off-white head.Nose shows toasty malt, some sweet brown sugar, bready malt and nutty character. Enticing.Similar flavours, nutty and bready malt with the Belgian dubbel-like brown sugar note in there too.Carbonation seems a little high.Would be a really good brown ale if not for the brown sugar character.

Pours black with a small head.Nose shows soft roast, toasted malt, bready notes, brown sugar, cereal notes. Interesting stuff.Less roast and toasty malt as flavours, while the rest remains. Feels a bit weak, especially combined with the watery body.

Pours deep amber with a quickly fading head.Sweet aroma of bready malt, golden syrup, soft spicy notes. The malt is very enticing.Surprising flavours, a lot lighter than the aroma suggests. Still some bready malt remains, and a hint of the golden syrup, but also some ginger or nutmeg or something???Needs a lot more carbonation.

Pours hazy orange/amber with a fading head.Nose shows sweet malt, bready notes, soft spicy phenols and soft booze.Sweet malty flavours too, a bit one-dimensional though. Some booze and bready malt.Body feels overly syrupy.Couldn’t quite work out what the aim was here.
