Can pour from Valley Beverage, Sherman Oaks. It's an opaque black with no sparkle, finger-width light brown head with poor retention and light lacing. Aroma is strong roasted earthy malts (on border of burning rubber/industrial) and minerals. Taste follows aroma with toffee and hint of anise. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, soft carbonation and dry finish. Overall, drinks more like a Dry/Irish stout. Taste is superior to aroma. Bought it as much for the name as anything.

Exactly what you want in an American red: deep veins of toast and caramel, undertones of earth, pine, and toffee, with notes of grapefruit, orange, and tropical fruits. Finishes with a mineral-pine flourish and a lingering nutbread heft. Delicious.

The aromas are mild dusty citrus hops. Flavors are similar to nose, fairly dry and a little more bitter than most hazies. Slight medicinal finish. Not a lot going on.

Classic West Coast IPA, full of grapefruit, pine, sticky resinous notes, and a deep, clingy bitterness on the finish. Malts add hint of caramel and toasted bread, backed up by slight hints of pencil shavings and orange zest. Tasty as hell.
