Bottle. Black with a 1/2 inch tan head that just hangs on at the rim. Lots of vanilla in the aroma, but also black strap, mocha, Milo. Sadly there’s no top note to the vanilla, but the chocolate is quite nice. A little lighter bodied than expected and the vanilla does sing a little more. Only sweetish and not much in the way of roasted flavours. Caramel, chocolate, vanilla and a decent amount of bitterness at the end. Just comes across as little cheap on the ingredient side (and to be fair, it was cheap), but very likeable finish that’s reasonably bitter and dry enough that the vanilla overtones come through.

Golden, thin head. Light fruity and vaguely citrusy, light biscuity pale malt. Has a decent quaffable taste.

(Bottle) Clear golden amber with short-lived white head. Aroma is not great - grainy and cardboard with faint grassy and citrus hints. Light bodied with reasonable carbonation. Taste, especially foretaste, is watery. However what there is, especially the dry maltiness towards the finish and reasonable bitterness in the finish, is good. Good, not great.

(On tap) Clear golden brown with good white head. Nice but subtle aroma with citrus and toffee hints. Light bodied with good carbonation. Pleasant flavour with light toffee and some subtle fruity hints developing some nice gentle bitterness. Nice pale ale

Bottle. Cloudy yellow with a white head. Grainy aroma with some butterscotch, lemon. Pleasingly round for 4.2%. Sweet with hay and some grain, earthy and slightly spicy with modest bitterness. Started too cold, better as it warmed a little. Worth another go.

Tap at Denman Cellars, port Airlie. Golden, well carbonated, white lace. Slightly dusty aroma, crisp aromatic hops on the palate, medium body, sparkly, yet chewy and filling. light biscuits and fruitiness in the malt base, very nice hop profile in the finish. The only fault for me was a lack of aromatics in the aroma, otherwise a flawless and really nice brew.
