Description
Right Brain Brewery is nestled in the SoFo District of downtown Traverse City, Michigan. Our focus is on creating artisanally made, one-of-a-kind culinary inspired brews. If you taste something in our beers, like asparagus, cherry pies, or real pig, it's because we put it there using only whole natural ingredients; after all... extracts are for sissies.

Right Brain brews can be found throughout the state of Michigan in cans, bottles, kegs, and on draft. However we're not just beer lovers, we're art lovers too. We're advocates for anything creative, innovative, or odd. We Keep Beer Curious.

12 oz can. Pours a murky golden amber with some large chunks and a white head. Ctirus, berry, pine hops in the aroma with some caramel. Flavor has citrus and herbal hops, caramel, with some nice bitterness. Decent.

12 oz can as the mystery beer from the Head Case pack. Pours a golden yellow with a moderate haze and a white head. Floral, citrus hops in the aroma, pale malt, honey. Flavors of floral, grass, citrus hops (a bit lemony) with light pale malt and honey. I hate the idea of mystery beers in mixed packs, but as a beer this one's decent.

Clearish orange-brown body (sediment at the end of the pour), pillowy cream head. Candy-like, caramely nose reminiscent of a barleywine. The body is mostly sweet orange breads with an orange tea-like oily resin in the finish. Odd, too flabby.

Super deep dark brown coloured body with a nice, but fairly fast-fading two to three centimetre tall off-white head that is gone after a few seconds, but shows nicely at first. Aroma of roasted malt, molasses, pitted fruits, licorice, anise and a bunch of very fresh mint - very nice in the nose with a bunch of scents, especially the roasted malts and super fresh mints - very nice. Medium-bodied; Strong roasty notes show at first with a lot of molasses and earthy with slightly nutty and rustic qualities, but the sweetness is pungent as well as the fresh mint, which provides a nice balance and rich quality. Aftertaste shows some earthy qualities, a touch thin and a light malts without much body at all (which is fine, considering the 5+ years in the bottle) but a nice sweetness and better fresh mint make this rich and pretty robust with a nice balance considering the age that goes down easily (helps with the age). Overall, a good beer and perhaps a bit less pungent and strong than it perhaps could have been five years ago, but great to sample now and a good beer regardless of of when you have it or can get it - try it, especially in the wintertime, even in Washington it's great, but probably would be better up in the great state of Michigan! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle, purchased from Merchant's in Dearborn, Michigan on 10-December-2016 for US$1,99 sampled at my house here in Washington more than five years later at my house here in Washington on 23-January-2022.

The Aromas are dark malt, roast and coffee. Flavors are similar to Nose, mildly sweet up front with a nice balance of bitter and carbonation to follow. Fresh coffee, good body and Finish. Nice coffee Stout. Thanks Paul!

On tap at GTOM. Pours a hazy gold with medium frothy white head. The aroma is lime zest, cherry candy, wheat, sea salt. Thin body, cherry limeade, wheat, nice tartness, salty finish, very good.
