Draft - Cherry tartness and dark malts. Deep brown with a decent beige head. Vinous, chocolaty notes, sweet yeasty boozy finish. Nice.

16 ounce can into chalice; no can dating, but is a recent release. Pours crystal clear deep ruby red/brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, fig, date, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted oak, bourbon, vanilla, light clove, and yeast/oak earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, dark/bready malt, and bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of huge caramel, raisin, fig, date, brown sugar, brown bread, toffee, vanilla, toasted oak, bourbon, light clove, light coconut, and oak/toasted earthiness. Light earthy yeast/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, raisin, fig, date, brown sugar, brown bread, toffee, vanilla, toasted oak, bourbon, light clove/coconut, and oak/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and robustness of dark/bready malt, fruity/earthy yeast, and bourbon barrel flavors; with an awesome malt/yeast/barrel balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth and fairly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an incredible barrel aged quadrupel style. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity/earthy yeast, and bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Tallboy can shared at a tasting. Pours a clear dark brown with a thin fizzy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of chocolate, butter, roasted malts, mild dark fruits. The taste is nuts, chocolate, cocoa, mild citrus and dark fruits. Thin-medium bodied, the name is a bit misleading as we were expecting tartness.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, no canning date. Pours slightly hazy bright golden color with a 2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, pepper, wheat, cracker, herbal, straw, grass, light clove, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, pepper, wheat, cracker, herbal, straw, grass, light clove, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, light banana, pepper, wheat, cracker, straw, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt flavors; with a nice crisp malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice saison style. All around good robustness, balance, and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

16 oz can. Pours black with a tan head. Tart chocolatey, molasses aroma. Flavor has that tart leading edge, cocoa and raisin. It’s pretty tasty, though pushing up the tartness would make it really interesting. But nothing to complain about here!

Purchased at Bottles and Cans in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home after a filling Thanksgiving work potluck before going to a restaurant. Appearance is a dark ruby orange with a very thin white rim. Aroma of pumpkin, Belgian ale yeast, tart, clove, orange peel. Taste is kind of strange, the name says it all - pumpkin flavor with a tart finish. Not one that I’ll probably have again.
