Description
Visit the world’s first LEED certified microbrewery housed in a refurbished historic funeral home in the East Hills neighborhood. Live the Bon Vivant with neighbors, brewers, and monks alike enjoying rustic farmhouse inspired beers alongside European inspired cooking from our scratch-kitchen.

We are excited to share our passion for beer, food and sustainability with you. Much of the inspiration behind Vivant comes from the small breweries that dot the countryside in Southern Belgium and Northern France. Often, those breweries are true beer artisans who are also an integral part of their community. They experiment with unique yeasts and local ingredients, always with an artistic eye to their creations. Sourcing ingredients locally makes their beer pair exceptionally well with a meal of locally sourced produce, meats, and cheeses. Brewery Vivant promotes living the good life by brewing farmhouse inspired beer, serving a from-scratch menu, and building a sustainable community one beer at a time.

Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clearish gold with a finger of white foam that dissipates quickly. Big pineapple and mango aromas on the nose with a touch of Belgian yeast character. More of the same on the palate with the yeast coming out a bit more as it warms and some light peppercorn notes alongside the loud pineapple and mango. Sweet and fruity finish with a nice Belgian yeast note at the end. Not a saison at all, but a nice fruit beer.

16oz can from Tavour. Golden pour, light cloudiness, small foamy white head. Aroma is overripe melon, tropical and citrus fruit, floral notes. Taste adds some earthy hops, light dank aspects, tropical fruit. Sweet and then bitter. Quite a kick too.

16 oz. Aroma has notes of wood, vanilla, woodsy hops, bread. Pours hazy sunshine golden with a one finger bone white head with decent retention. Taste has mild bitterness and significant bready malt sweetness. Interesting and tasty.

Super deep, dark brown coloured body with a very oily glow and a thinnish, single to at most two centimetre tall tan head that fades quickly and leaves just about nothing on top after just a few seconds. Aroma of super deep and noticeable, herbal lavendar flowers up front with a lot of molasses, vanilla, cream, milk and light funkiness in the nose with some malts and sugars, but that's about it - fairly mild in the nose, for sure. Medium to Full-bodied; Very rich and pungent malt notes dominate with bunches of vanilla, cream, lactose, milk and a bit of sourness with a funky yeast quality, but the malts are definitely stronger here, as is the alcohol, the rich flavours and some oaty and caramel flavours towards the end - very pungent throughout and still showing a bit of the funkiness from the yeast at the very end. Aftertaste shows incredible complexity, pungency, richness and odd, non-consistent flavours that seemingly work well together, especially when the people who drink this seem to have a clue of what they'e got. Overall, this is a nice, pungent, potent, super complex, ultra funky and seemingly outside-the-lines beer that doesn't neatly fit into a single style and Imperial Stout it really isn't in as well. This beer has a great complexity with a rich, sweet and pungent finish especially that works well if you are looking for something different, but still strong. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Merchant's [fine wine] in Dearborn, Michigan in late 2016 for US4,49 sampled at my house here in Washington nearly six years later, on 17-July-2022.

16 oz. Aroma has notes of peach, SweeTarts, raspberry if I really search for it. Pours murky salmon orange with a half finger off white head that falls into a ring somewhat quickly. Thin and watery. Good, but not all that flavorful compared to a lot of fruited sour beers I’ve had lately.

2021 can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clear amber chestnut color with a finger of beige head that dissipates. Prune, oak and dates on the nose with warming bourbon and vanilla as it warms. More fruit and oak on the palate. Good lingering vanilla, slight bitterness and warming bourbon. Very nice.
