Pour is a hazy yellow with a average white head. Aroma is yeasty esters and a bit of citrus tartness. Flavor is more of the yeast esters with a bit of lemon grass and dull grain. It’s decent. You can tell they used a good yeast strain but it’s a bit thin around the edges, although the lacing really sticks to the side of the glass. A starter saison maybe?

12 oz can. Pours black with full head. Aromas of freshly ground coffee (acidic), licorice, and roasted malts. Flavors are similar with extended flavours of oily fresh pressed black coffee. Very nice but a bit of coffee overkill limits where/when to use.

Some growler mart: Pours slightly hazy, golden with a white head. Aroma is a whole bunch of tropical fruits, with some dry saison hopping, and a wheaty malt backbone. Taste is much the same. Easy to drink. Not very sweet. Lightly bitter and a little dry.

2013 bottle courtesy of daknole. Aroma is fairly fruity with a moderately strong cherry character. Light oak note with a slight medicinal phenolic character. Medium light acidity. Light juiciness. Pours a slightly cloudy red with pinkish orange highlights. Slightly off white, pinkish head that is slightly thin and quickly recedes to the edges where it lingers. No lacing and faint legs. Flavor has a light sweetness and moderately strong cherry character. Medium acidity with hints of Brett character but not the classic barnyard Brett. Doesn’t have the medicinal phenolic character that the aroma had. Cherry flavor is also fairly fresh and juicy. Mouthfeel Is medium light bodied to medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall it’s a pretty good Kriek with a lot of cherry character. A nice medium light acidity with a light Brett character. I wish it had a more complex Brett character though and its a bit too fruity for my preferences. One of the better American Krieks though. A pretty nice beer.

Arapahoe Basin Ski Resort: Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is a load of chocolate and coffee and roasted malts. Very pleasant and very fresh coffee taste. Nice chocolate touches. Hoppy undertones. Quite nice and unexpected and tasty.

Aroma: The nose is heavy malty, quite sweet, and a little boozy, with lots of caramel and toffee
Appearance: It pours a murky dark orange color with a lasting beige head and plus lacing
Flavor: The flavor is very sweet, caramel, toffee, and fruit, with some boozy notes, and hints of hop
Palate: The body is medium-plus, heavy sticky, with soft carbonation, and boozy heat
Overall Impression: The name is the standout component of this beer (by far), and the main reason I purchased it. As a beer, it is a solid one, but it is also overly sweet and a little too boozy to be a great beer. I certainly didn't dislike it, but, at the same time, it isn't great. I'll bump it up 1 point on the overall purely for the awesome name (12 to 13), but otherwise, this is where I'd stick it.

12oz can pours with a slightly hazy gold body that supports a white head. The aroma has nice saison yeasty spices and a bit of lemon to lime citrus fruitiness. Behind those notes murmur faint banana off in the background. The taste is similar with a pleasing degree of spicy saison yeastiness rolling quickly into some mild sugary malt sweetness and then some lemon grass and lime like malt sweetened hoppiness. This is a nice saison that doesn’t get too sweet like most American made Saison offerings I’ve had but it still seems a bit too heavy and sluggish at times.

Sample at the Willoughby PBCCP tasting on 11/17/2013: The beer pours a dark brown color with a medium light beige head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of coffee, malt and hops. Medium-bodied with flavors of roasted coffee, malt and earthy hops. The finish is roasty with an espresso aftertaste. Above average overall.

cloudy amber color. Big piney citrus and caramel nose. Big mouth. Full body, but not an IIPA that takes you to the next level. Good stuff but standard
