Draught@Pullman’s, Helsinki as "Stadin Pullmans Special Ale"
Clear amber color, good off-white head. Flowery, quite fruity aroma - almost Belgian-like. Crisp carbonation. Nicely nutty bitter, aromatic-hoppy flavor. A bit sweet with hoppyness in the finish. Long hoppy aftertaste. Much better than earlier brews made for Pullman’s.

May 07 in One Pint Pub, Helsinki - Before my visit to Helsinki, I had heard that this brewery had closed so I was very pleased to find that they had one of their beers on sale when I visited. The aroma is very inviting and smells of peaches and other exotic fruits and the taste was extremely hoppy and bitter with a long and refreshing after taste. The beer was a bit hazy but there was nothing wrong with the taste or the aroma so this was just superficial and I am not sure if the haze was intentional or not. A nice, fairly impressive beer.

Draught@Black Door, Helsinki. Had it in late June, but rating seems gone from the site... Reddish brown colour with small head, that won’t last for long. Aroma is strongly wineous along with caramel malts and some hoppyness. Not very much alcohol noteable in the aroma. As for the flavour it’s malty, fruity, berryish and slightly wineous. The alcohol gives a warming feeling all through you body when swallowing. A really pleasant Barley wine.

Rerated in May 2008, alc stated as 9+ % at black door. Quite similar to the above, but has smoothened out a lot and now also has some smoked notes in it. Score 8 4 8 4 16 on both occasions.

Interesting, I’m sure I added the rating before, so does my notebook, but no entry found. Rated in April 2007 (on Sunday after Helsinki Beer Fest)@Black Door. Hazy reddish amber colour, mediumsized creamy white head. Aroma is flowery hops and some sweet grassyness and berries. Pretty much the same goes for the flavour. Rather hoppy and dry finish.

Hazy amber color; thin head. Aroma of smoked sausages. The mouthfeel is not very strong, there is a caramel flavor and a strong smoked character, again reminding some Nordic smoked salame; also, salty and with a light metallic touch at the end. Controversial.

Mahogany color with red hue, no head. Mature aroma of malt, caramel, a bit cheesy. Full-bodied, strong malt-caramel flavor, sweet, but very well balanced by a strong hopping. The alcohol gives a warming sensation, the palate has a lot of sweet caramel. Let me say, Thomas Hardy’s but more hopped (I had to hit a second glass, I paid the morning after…). Perfectly balanced, top quality Barley Wine.

The keg doesn’t have any information, only known that it’s made with rye and it’s 7% ABV

Muddy, dark amber color. Dusty aroma, rye bread, light vanilla, very light coffee. Full-bodied, some sweetness, caramel taste, some spices, some citrusy hopping, very light tartness; later it develops a very light coffee taste. Unfortunately the final has a sweetener taste too.

Draught at One Pint Pub, Helsinki. Cloudy pale amber, minimal head. Citric nose. Medium sweet and medium bodied. Freshly hoppy, but not overpowering. Well drinkable with soft and pleasant mouthfeel. Medium bitterness. Interesting soft citric approach to an IPA.

Draught at One Pint Pub, Helsinki. Hazy brownish amber. Lychee-like hop aroma. Medium sweet and medium bodied with soft mouthfeel. Velvetty and peachy, really well hopped with loads of grapefruit and lychee. The gradously increasing bitterness reaches San Diego-like proportions. Another great beer from Stadin!
