Festival sample, Sørlandets Matfestival 2023. Served as ‘’Honey I’m home’’ at 7% ABV. Clear golden body under a white head. Aroma has malt, but the honey dominates without feeling like pure mead. Floral honey. Taste is sweet, malty and quite distinct honey. A bit herbal as well, low bitterness. Fine body with a sweet but balanced honey aftertaste. Nice sipper without being fantastic.

On tap at Sørlandet Matfestival. An unclear dark orange-golden colored beer with a dense, creamy beige head. Nice lacing. The aroma is malty and caramely, with toffee, pine cones and some grass, coffee and dark bread. It's full-bodied and with a nice carbonation. A bit sweet and cloying though. Malt driven flavor too, caramel, toffee and bread, with a light piney hoppyness. Medium length finish. An easy drinkable beer that won't raise any eyebrows. Dull, but otherwise flawless. 230707

Bottled (Thanks CueSheet!). Hazy golden colour with a mediumsized white head. Aroma is bready malts, zest and some slight herbal tones. Flavour is sweet malts, zest, some grains and a quite strange harsh bitterness with some yeasty elements as well. Somewhat unclean flavour.

Bottled (from Vinmonopolet Kirkenes). Hazy amber colour, mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is grainy, yeasty, herbal and mild earthy tones. Flavour is pretty much the same elements as the aroma is. Not very good.

Bottle, at Sørlandet Matfestival. It’s an unclear dark brown to black beer with a dense finger-thick beige head. Roasted, lightly burnt aroma with some prune and alcohol. Faint notes of coffee and dark chocolate too. It’s warming on the palate, full-bodied and nicely carbonated. Roasted malts, some burnt malts as well as prunes, coffee, dark chocolate and licorice in the flavor. And not to forget, alcohol. Sort of herbal towards the finish. A powerful beer that feels a bit messy and homebrew-like, but decent anyway. Not your average Black IPA though. 220708

Bottle, at Sørlandet Matfestival. It pours an almost clear golden colored body under a minimalistic white head. The aroma is lightly smoked, in a ham-like way, with generic fruityness. Sort of Belgian yeast kind of fruityness. It’s full-bodied, smooth and nicely carbonated, with a mostly fruity flavor. Yeast-fruity, with a herbal note, some grass and ham-like smoked pale malts. Some bready hints too. Lightly yeasty-spiced, fruity finish. A quite decent one, although a bit untidy. 220708
