2015-11-08, draught at the brewery, 6-4-7-3-13=33
Cloudy dark amber color with small but persistent head. Very light aroma, some apricot. Good body strength, moderately sweet, with some malt flavor, if there is any herb or spice the character is subtle; strong bitterness.
It’s a good strong Ale, a bit dirty though.
2013-12-22, draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver, 6-5-7-3-14=35
Hazy dark mahogany color, with creamy head. Malty brew, caramelly, slightly herbal, perfumy, with correct bitterness,. A good Ale, between American and Belgian; not a true Sahti, but maybe it’s better this way.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Black color wit the expected persistent creamy nitro head. The aroma is very mild, gets one point less because the nitrogen is shielding it. Smooth mouthfeel; I can sense the sweetness, and a milky touch, while the roastiness is definitively low, and the bitterness even more; lactose in the end; but overall severely impacted by the nitrogen.
Dumbed beer.

Draught at Au Petit Chauvignol, Vancouver
Black color. The aroma is mild. The flavor is mild as well but nice, soft dark malts, with lactose, light residual sweetness, light body, low bitterness.
Easy but pleasant.

On tap at Parallel 49, pours black with a small creamy tan head. Nose brings out notes of cocoa and lactose. Flavour brings out some interesting watermelon notes, cocoa, and lactose. Really well-balanced and of course creamier than the original. Very enjoyable stuff.
Earlier Rating: 11/7/2012 Total Score: 3.5
On tap at the Alibi Room, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out the milky quality above anything, without anything else too discernible. Flavour brings out milk chocolate, nutty candy bars, and some toffee- sort of like a toffee but latte. Body is thick and milky, with a slightly sweet and nutty finish. Very good sessionable stout.

On cask at the Alibi Room, pours a clear dark orange brown with a thin beige creamy head. Nose brings out loads of chai, which dominates everything, atop slightly toasted bread. Flavour brings out toasted bread, loads of chai, and toasted nuts. Actually pretty pleasant - wasn't expecting this to be too pleasing, but the chai is incorporated pretty tastefully. Decent stuff.

650 ml bottle. 10.2% 8.5 IBU. (It ain’t bitter.) Pours a dark brown/mahogany with very little head. Aromas of caramel, burnt honey, moderate oak, and beeswax. (OK, maybe the later is from the wax seal - which smells very pleasant on it’s own. ) Rich flavors of thick honey, maple syrup, vanilla/oak and roasted malts. Sweet. Very nice. Worth cellaring for a short time. Li’l Red is forgiven.

650mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma brings out loads of rye, earthy notes, wheat and a touch of roast - super earthy stuff. Flavour brings out loads of rye, earthy hops, and further back, juniper berries. Quite dominated by the rye and earthy hops. Doesn't taste as twig-like as other sahtis I've had, but I've not had that many. Excellent stuff.
