330ml bottle from Kerne. Pours a misty gold, moderate carbonation. Mild medium fruit syrup nose. Distinctly dry on the palate with some caramelised apple juice, underlying medium fruit, mild syrupy sweet tone. Lacks the sharp crisp clarity and deft dry air of a good extra brut.

75cl bottle from Kerné, Brittany. Clear pale gold appearance. Sweet apple pie filling on the nose, sweet apple. Distinctly sweet to taste, no caramelisation, quite simplistic and mainstream-tasting without much depth. Not for me.

75cl bottle from Cidrerie Kerné, shared with Soph in Port la Foret, Brittany. Pours a bright clear gold. Good gently scuzzy resonant brut.. but labelling it 'cuvee selection' would suggest a bit more depth and complexity which isn't there but it's still a lovely fruity medium Cidre.

Tea cup glass at Le Bar à Crêpes in Versailles, France. The pour is clear, golden and bubbly. The aroma is sweet apple, with a hint of earthy yeast. The taste is the sweet apple fruit, plus picks up some faintly Brett funk yeast character that really works with the apple sweetness. The palate is lighter body, effervescent and a dry lingering Brut champagne and Brett finish. Nice, great with the savory crepes.
