Bottle(as Jovaru Šnekutis/@ Litauen Spezial, Alles Gärbar Bochum): Hazy, golden, no head to speak of; Aroma is very hard to describe, maybe fruity-cellary, traces of sour dough, traces of burnt malt; moderate sweet-sourish flavour, thinnish MF; short fruity and goughy finish. Not my cup of tea...

1 liter pet bottle, thanx to larsga. Samplet May 2014. Damn, this is a difficult one. Very unusually, quite weird and sure more interesting than good IMO. Body is unclear dirty orange with a thin and fast disappearing white head. Looking weird, the aroma is even more unusually. Worth, baking yeast, cooked vegetable and cabbage cellar or something. Not really as unpleasant as it might sound. It’s almost a bit scaring to take the first sip here, as I really don’t know what to expect and are prepared for almost anything. OK, not bad nut not good either, but definitively difficult to explain. At least there is a lot of yeast here with some kind of fruitiness that I really don’t how to describe, it might come from the yeast itself, don’t know. I thing I could call some of the flavor for umami, as it has some equating with sake and raw meat without really tasting the same thing. Not particular sweet and almost no bitterness so I have to say it’s some kind of balance here. Medium body and long lasting aftertaste with the same unusually flavor. Probably need to try more of similar beer styles to understand this. Some extra score for the surprise this time, still not any favorite.

50cl (as "Kaimiskas Alus Jovaru Snekutis") on tap at Kaimiško Alaus Baras Šnekutis (Užupis location), Vilnius. Slightly hazy orange with a white head. Moderate malty aroma with some yeasty notes and hints of herbs and butter. Moderate sweet with hints of sourness and a light bitterness. Quite refreshing and nice after a long walk on a hot day.

Bottle, 1liter Pet. Thx to larsga and joet. As Kaimiskas Alus Jovaru Snekutis. An unclear dark orange-golden beer with a minimal sized off-white head. There’s butterscotch on the nose, with yeast, lemon, cooking rice, some wet cardboard and caramel. Some notes of cooked vegetables and wort too. Weird, nice and interesting in a way, and at the same time not. The mouthfeel gives me associations to sake, it’s pretty dry and mouth coating. Soft carbonation. Lemony notes, rice, toffee, some butterscotch and fruityness in the flavor, with almost no bitterness to be detected. There’s not much sweetness either so I don’t miss the bitterness. Lasting fruity and yeasty finish with toffee hints. A very complex and interesting beer. Don’t think I could drink much of it, but it’s sure interesting. My score reflects that. 140503

Tap at Snekutis old town. Deep, cloudy amber with lace. Nose of cabbage, honey, something like detergent, bread and butter. Honey flavor, with bread, orange, and a dryish, slightly bitter finish. Nose is a bit rough, but a fascinating traditional beer.
