Very roasty malts with some coffee and light herbal tones. Smooth, medium mouthfeel. Light caramel malts with just a touch of smoke. I thought this was a solid stout, actually, and could have downed a few of them.

Bomber from Pours coppery with a small beige head. Aroma seems citrus. Full bodied with light carbonation. Quite malty but there is hop present. Ends more sweet than not, but there’s some definite bitter keeping up the good fight. Strong fight!

Location: 22 oz bottle from Chevy Chase Wine, 3/2/10

Aroma: The nose has lots of citrus hops, some caramel malts, some resiny notes, and some booze
Appearance: Pours a clear, dark orange-caramel color with a tiny, bubbly beige head, spotty lace
Flavor: The flavor is pretty hoppy/bitter, some sweet malts for balance, relatively dry
Palate: The body is medium-full, with a syrupy mouthfeel, and a somewhat boozy feel
Overall Impression: This is my first bottled rating from DuClaw, though I have had a bunch of their brews from the tap at the brewery. I'm glad to see DuClaw brews started showing up in bottles down here, I hadn't seen them in the area before now. As it breathes, the hops fade from the nose a bit, and it grows boozier, which is interesting. I like the nose either way. The flavors also works pretty well for me, a very solid Barley Wine. This is good brewery, I'd like to see these guys expand their bottling to more beers and more areas, as I am happy to enjoy this brew without having to visit Baltimore to get it.

Big thanks to GMCC2181 for shipping me this growler! Pours clear copper with thin off white head. The mild aroma is full of citrus hops, spicy to earthy hops and some slick malt sweetness. The taste starts out with smooth earthy to grassy hop flavor and then the bitterness begins to pick up. By midway slick sweet maltiness murmurs up in the background to provide a pleasing level of support for the tasty load of hops. Nice American style Barleywine.
