Can - first of all, for something that is supposed to be a dunkelweizen, it’s clear as fuck - looks like a damned amber ale - also doesn’t taste like one (wouldn’t guess it blind) - pretty bland flavor, really - faint breadiness, light underlying sourness, a touch of pepper maybe - watery finish - nothing offensive or off, just bland and not what it is advertised to be - lame fucking beer.

16 oz. can. Pours a bright, yellow color, with a small, bubbly, white head. The nose is dry straw, lemon juice, grapefruit peel, thyme, and light funk. Sweet and citrusy, with a drying bitterness. Light to medium body, acidic, and astringent. Easy, yet interesting and fun sour saison.

Update - accidentally bought more of this recently because I had forgotten I’d had it before - it’s in negative digits right now so I was like, “fuck it, let’s try this stuff mulled” - gotta say when it is hot this beer is a completely different experience - the roastiness of the malt moves forward a lot more, so the sugary sweetness is much more balanced out, as flavors of espresso and dark fruit become much more prominent, along with a mild port wine character - I will not adjust my original rating, but know that if you aren’t too keen on this that drinking it hot may improve the experience. Can - pours nearly black - decent off-white head/lacing - nose smells like milk sugar and chocolate - medium-body - very sweet and sugary, without a lot of the body and depth other imperial stouts of similar sweetness sometimes bring, which makes it taste all the more sweet, as they are fewer other things to focus on - a little roast, chocolate, a tiny bit of smoke, some acidity in the finish that fails to balance - not great, but also not awful.
