Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; poured pitch black massive tan head, dark chocolate malt aroma, rich malt chocolate aroma with a citrus hop bite. Really pleasant impy stout.

650ml bottle. Pitch black colour with huge, firm, thick, frothy to creamy, foamy, lasting, lacing, tan head. Chocolately dark malty aroma with coffee and cappuccino notes. Taste is minimally roasty dark malty, coffee notes, pleasant dryness, hoppy overtones produce Black IPA-typical carrot and green onion notes; well hidden alcohol, minimally sweet coffee notes dominate the lasting finish. A lovingly hopped Impy Stout with resemblances to a Black IPA.

Small, fast gone off-white head, cloudy amber-orange beer. Chlorine (from the glass...). Further grapefruit & rosewater, also brown candi sugar. Bittering hops, but again impression of candi sugar. Very unidimensional, and I get slight oxidation from the hops, cheesy. Light to medium bodied, low on carbonation. Rather poor IPA - unfortunate choice of hops: little aroma for much bitterness.

Bottle, 22oz. A nice-looking beer, a dense tan head of moderate size sits on top of a more or less black body. Lots of hops on the nose, piney and resiny, with roasted malts and some licorice notes. Hints of dried fruits, burnt hints and dried fruits. The flavor might lack a bit on complexity, but it’s really pleasant, the hops standing out, adding pine cones and resins, and the malts adding roasted notes, licorice and some dried fruits. Dry on the palate, full-bodied and soft. Lasting roasted finish. Certainly a nice one. 121102

Bottle 650ml @ Geokkjer
Pours pitch black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, licorice and citrus, grape hops. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter with a long rosted, chocolate and bitter finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

0.65l bottle from Craft Beer C.O. Oh this is a good looking one! Glowing dark, cloudy and amber-orange in the color with a medium sized heavy lacing beige dense top and a good amount of dark sediments in the bottle of the glass. It looks really nice this. On the nose it's a classic barley winer with sweet sticky dark dried fruits like dates, figs and raisins. There is also something light nutty about this and it's strong and malty sweet with a little hint of alcohol. In the taste it's definitely not so sweet as I expected, but extreme nutty and quite alcohol strong. A bit raw would describe it nicely. It's soft to average on the small prickling carbonation level, full-bodied with a thick oily to sticky mouthfeel. It's almost a bit medicinal in the taste. Spicy in a strange way also. The aftertaste is quite warming and really nutty-bitter. Had hoped for a bit more to be honest. 17.10.2012

Bottle. Pitch black pour with a light brown head. Aroma had notes of roasted malts, dark choc, coffee and dark fruits. Thickish mouthfeel that displayed similar traits to the nose and some well placed hop bitterness. ABV (not the squatting Spurs boss) emerged from the shadows to give a pleasant warming hit..A robbust and well executed stout.

Bomber courtesy of Marsiblursi. Pours very dark brown, almost. Lack, with a rather big frothy goldenish mocha head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of trace on the glass. Smell is is slightly sweet and malty with roasted malts, milk chocolate, dark roast coffee, dark bread, prunes, wood, freshly cut grass, resinous wood, liquorice root, black pepper, dark bread and hints of lemon zest and green peppers. Taste is rich, slightly sweet and bitter with heavily roasted malts, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, pumpernickel, grapefruit rinds, salty liquorice, green chili, resinous wood, freshly cut grass and burnt caramel. Mouthfeel is found, soft, smooth, very tiny roasted tart and medium to full bodied. Finish is bitter and malty with roasted malts, pumpernickel, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, green chili, resinous wood, grapefruit rinds and hints of salty liquorice. A nice surprise!

Bottle courtesy of Marsiblursi. Pours cloudy reddish orange with a creamy offwhite head that leaves some thin sticky lacing on the glass. Smell is sweet and malty with burnt cookies, caramelized nuts, orange peal, golden syrup, sweet dark bread, butterscotch hard candy, freshly cut grass, vanilla fudge, resinous wood, green peas and moist soil. Taste is sweet, bitter and malty with caramel, pine, overripe lemons, freshly cut grass, sweet bread, milk chocolate, caramelized almonds, grapefruit rinds, resin, overripe lemons and hints of green peas. Mouthfeel is smooth, soft, sound, sticky aggressive bitter and medium to full bodied. Finish is slightly sweet and bitter with caramel, sweet bread, grapefruit rinds, milk chocolate, pine, resinous wood, overripe almost rotten lemons, freshly cut grass and caramelized nuts. Great malt but the the hops doesn’t really suit the nice malt profile.
