Draft at the Taphouse. Inky black pour with small, bubbly beige head. Aroma comes off as normal stout (kind of), but taste brings in the hops to radically change the character of this brew. Half stout, half CDA. Sharp bitterness finishes this. Way cool!

Catch up rating from notes (2016). Fresh hop season at the Taphouse. A Cascadian Dark version of Leafer Madness, fresh hops to boot. Pours out a thin black body with small off white head. Big dank aroma, coupled with some bitter roast grains, coffee, chocolate. Taste follows along, more of the hops bitterness, a small amount of fruity sweetness from somewhere. Very interesting.

OnTap vdery dark brown/black Thin brief tan head. Plenty of strong roast and chocolate in teh flavors and aromas. Hopped and bittered to CDA level. But the warm smooth roastiness is more like a heavy slick porter feel. Strange crossover. Tasty though.

Draft at Bitter Creek. Another stellar looking beer. Curtains of lacing. Gentle hoppy aroma. Taste is also gentle, but sublime. Fresh hops gives this one a nudge in the right direction. Not overly bitter, but a textbook example of the style.

At a tasting, thanks, opaque black color, small creamy bubbly brown head, flavor of dark bread, chocolate and cocoa, lots of chocolate in flavor, lasting shrubby bitterness and just a hint of smoke, light sweetness getting stronger, tounge coating sensation. Good and solid.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom L’s place. Thanks Tom L. Black with a light brown head. Aroma of roast, coffee, some chocolate and dark fruitsw. Bittersweet flavor, roasty, with chocolate, coffee, a bit of dark fruits, and a bitter hops finish. Medium to full-bodied.
