Description
Gage Roads is the strip of ocean that separates Rottnest Island and Fremantle in Western Australia. It’s a home to surfers and swimmers; seagulls and sharks; ships and sailors. It’s a place where you can relax, escape, explore, or seek out adventure. We saw a lot of ourselves in that little spot. That’s why we named our brewery after it.

We set up shop in an old margarine factory just outside Freo over 14 years ago and we’ve been crafting beer there ever since. We make a range of ales and lagers, all of which are inspired by our place here on the WA coast.

Bottle from Jason's Food Hall, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy light amber with a lasting frothy white head and a few bubbles. The aroma is toffee caramel malt, light fruit, light hop. The flavour is light bitter, with a light, watery, toffee malt, light dry woody hop bitter palate. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Somewhat light and i'm not too happy with what's going on in there to be frank.

330ml bottle. Clear, orangey, pale golden colour with small to average, frothy to macropore, diminishing, white head. Sweet-ish, minimally bready malty and citrusy, fruity hoppy aroma, notes of mandarine, some melon. Taste is sweet-ish, minimally bready, malty and dry, slightly fruity hoppy, hints of mandarine and orange; slightly overcarbonated.

330ml bottle at bar outside the Olympic Stadium before the NRL Grand Final. Into plastic cup. Hoppy fruity nose. Golden bronze beer with thin white head. Very little carbonation. Laces OK (in a plastic cup!) Taste is bitter and grainy, finish is dry with late lemon and earthy hops. Really nice IPA, hard to believe it's 6.1%

Bottle. Almost clear deep gold with a white head that never quite disappears. Aroma of apricot delight, mango "leather", hay, spices. Well short of syrupy. After the aroma expected it to be very sweet, but bitterness, a fair whack of overt alcohol and an odd herbal finish don't give the sweetness much of a chance. A bit of Butter Menthol too. I don't really get this one.

33cl bottle from Jasons food Hall, KL. Thin white head. Hazy light amber pour. Nice bitterness but lacking something. It was alright but I don't think I'd go for another one.
