Description
At Black Hole Brewery we mix the traditional with the innovative. Traditional brewing techniques, with flavour old and new. We aim for innovative and sustainable methods - from our sourcing of materials at the start of the brewing process to our investment in electric vehicles to deliver the beers.
Black Hole Brewery are proud to be part of the tradition of brewing in our region. Born in Burton and (Dis)Organised from Derby, The Black Hole Brewery has gone through some big changes from our origins - with more evolutions - and revolutions - to come. We take our brewing, and our beers - but not ourselves - seriously. If you like the beer names but think some are a bit have daft? Good. If you have a chuckle at the clips? Great. You enjoy the Beer? That's the important bit!

Cask at The Flying Standard, Coventry. Clear amber with small beige head, great lacing. Notes of roasted malt, fruit cake and light spice. At the same time its quite easy drinking rather than rich. Moderately sweet and bitter. Nice balance, simple but tasty.

Handpull cask at the Salmon, Leicester. Mid- to dark brown, very translucent with an uneven beige head and lots of lacing. Mega-malty aroma, loads of chocolate, touches of black grape. Taste is sweet, again very malty, with only touches of fruity bitterness toward the finish. Blueberry, chocolate and grape in the aftertaste. A proper decent porter.

Handpull cask at the King's Head, Leicester. Light yellow gold and clear with a small frothy white head. Lotsbof lacing. Wheaty floral aroma slightly overshadowed by a metallic edge and a surprisingly boozy character for 6%. Tastes sweet and perfumed with a good amount of Hop bitterness in the finish. Bit of tropical fruit in the aftertaste. Full oily body with soft carbonation. It has some issues but it's overall a good enough beer.

Cask at New Inn, Tutbury (not yet in RB). Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small tan head and good lacing. Roast malts to the fore in the aroma, together with chocolate. In the mouth it is bittersweet with roasted malts prominent again alongside liquorice and dark fruits plus hints of chocolate and cola, Finish is somewhat dry. This is decent – a proper stout.

Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours golden yellow with minimal scummy off-white head. The aroma has citrus and orange plus hints of banana. In the mouth it is sweet and creamy with flavour of mango, banana and peach and traces of malts and lactose. Later on some alcoholic strength comes through and there’s a bitter metallic undertaste. Finish is dry and slightly spicy. This is pretty decent, if a bit strange. It certainly hides its strength well.

Cask ar Old Dolphin, Derby. Pours a slightly hazy golden amber with a small off-white head. The aroma is mainly malts with a hint of oranges. In the mouth it is sweet but with some underlying bitterness. Flavour has malts, barley sugar, werthers original sweets, oranges and mango. Still some sweetness in the finish. This is reasonable – if a little bland.
