Cask @ Midnight Bell, Leeds. Black with a thick creamy head. Has a medium roasted aroma and taste with a very easy to drink texture that feels smooth in the palate.

Cask @ Yates’s, Leeds. Golden with a very thin head. Slightly dry in texture but pleasant for it with some fruits apparent. More of an IPA texture than a golden ale with plenty of floral notes.

Cask @ Champion of the Thames, Cambridge. Dark gold/amber, tries to muster up a little bit of head. Aroma is grassy and vinous. The taste is bready and malty: sweet at first with a dry finish. Bitterness in the back of the throat jars against the otherwise lovely end to the sip. It’s ok but not all that memorable.

330ml bottle from Beer Ritz. Quite a big hit of zesty lemon bitterness here, fruity with a plump juiciness, a touch of spice and an oily mouthfeel. A joy to drink.

Gravity cask @ NWAF 2014, Derby. Dark brown with a hint of ruby. Slight translucence. Woody, nutty, earthy, slightly sour aroma. Malt sweetness and hop bitterness vie for attention in the balanced taste. Bitter/sour finish, nothing much on the palette. A solid ale I’d be happy to have again.
