The flavour is moderate bitter and sweet, with a rich, grainy, warm alcohol, tangerine, light herbal, floral, woody hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish. Cask at the Colmore, Birmingham. Poured almost black in colour with a reddish hue. The aroma is big strawberries and cream. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth, rich, creamy, tart strawberry, vanilla palate. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation. Just as it says on the label! Nice, but rather sweet that would rapidly become a little sickly.

Cask ale, half-pint at Old Bell Tavern. Close-to-clear amber-gold body, full lacing from a stable white head. Moderate aromas of grain and lemony hops. Ripe fruity flavoured, citrus and semi-sweet juicy malts. Rounded malt-fruity tail. Medium bodied. Fair enough. (Harrogate 07.07.2022).

On tap at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours almost black with minimal cream head. Aroma is generally sweet with liquorice and candy. Sweetnewss continues in the mouth where the texture is creamy. Initially the mian flavour is cherries, but gradually marzipan overtakes this, to be eventually dominant. Some hints of roast malts as well. Finish is fruity. This is a decent stout – though I was unable to detect any oatmeal.
